Activity Skill Levels

Kayaking

Beginner: No experience but can swim at least 100 yards

Intermediate: Can perform basic kayaking strokes in lake, swim at least 100 yards.

Advanced: Familiar with advanced strokes and has participated in river trips, must swim 300 yards. Has on river roll in kayak.

02 12

Climbing

Beginner: No experience

Intermediate: In good physical condition. Has climbed before, can tie harness, and is aware of belay commands.

Advanced: Knows figure 8 and square knots. Can use belay commands and climb 5.6.

03 12

Guitar

Beginner: No experience

Intermediate: Able to form and strum basic chords and chord progressions.

Advanced: Proficiency in playing all major and minor chords as well as bar chords. Able to strum with rhythm and knowledge of major and minor scales.

04 12

Basketball

Beginner: No experience

Intermediate: Knows basic rules of the game. May have played on a team.

Advanced: Currently plays on a competitive team, for a club, middle school or high school team. Good physical condition.

Tennis

Beginner: Little or no experience

Intermediate: Has played with some regularity. Able to serve, volley and hit ground strokes with consistency

Advanced: Playing on a team regularly and competitively.

06 12

Fishing

Beginner: No experience

Intermediate: Has gone on a few family type outings. Comfortable with rod and reel. Limited experience fly fishing.

Advanced: Fishing regularly and consistently. Familiar with fly fishing and roll casting.

07 12

Swimming

Beginner: No experience through swim 10 yards acceptable stroke

Intermediate: Swim 25 yards through 100 yards; front dive from side

Advanced: Swim 300 yards

08 12

Riflery

Beginner: No experience

Intermediate: Has participated in range riflery; knows range safety procedure, proper sight picture, etc.

Advanced: Is consistently capable of making a pro-marksman score of 20 or better at 50 feet

09 12

Wrestling

Beginner: No experience

Intermediate: Can perform single and double take downs. Knows referee’s position.

Advanced: Knows scoring. Has competed on some level

10 12

Fencing

Beginner: No experience

Intermediate: Knows correct grip, target, on guard, advance and retreat

Advanced: Knows correct lunge, parry and beat attack. May be on team.

11 12

Archery

Beginner: No experience

Intermediate: Has participated in range archery; knows range safety procedure, proper bow draw, release and position

Advanced: Is consistently capable of making a fair score and has earned archery achievement awards.

Canoeing

Beginner: No experience but can swim at least 100 yards

Intermediate: Can perform basic canoeing strokes in lake, swim at least 100 yards.

Advanced: Familiar with advanced strokes and has participated in river trips, must swim 300 yards.
