Tuesday Triumphs at Camp!
Tuesday Triumphs at Camp!
HELLOOOOOOO, Session 3A! I cannot believe we are already into our third session. I mean, you know what they say: “Time flies when you are having fun!” HOWEVER, THIS IS CRAZY! This morning started well with French toast sticks and sausage! After we enjoyed our delicious breakfast, we made our way down the stairs of the Tuck for the morning yell from Chancellor R!
As we made our way to the Chapel, we sang some of our favorite worship songs, like Sing Hosanna, Every Move I Make, and O Love that will not let me go! When it came time for our true story, we heard from Winston H about Proverbs 14:15 and examined who man is. Then we went to CLEAN THOSE CABINS! After cleaning our cabins to perfection, we made our way to the first two periods of the day!
During our activities today we had something absolutely insane occur during the first period. Micah A. caught a 12 dot frog. I was right near him when it happened and the commotion/aftermath of the discovery was so cool to see. In other news, Reid S. during riflery class got a silver grouping! We had our first day of Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday classes, and it was so exciting to see everyone trying out new activities.
For lunch, we had cheese quesadillas with beans and rice. On the side, there were chips with guacamole and salsa! How DELICIOUS!! We also discovered who succeeded at Mission Impossible yesterday!!!!! THE GOLDEN EAGLES. As a Black Bear myself I still owe it to them as they deserve this win. As for cabin cleanup, our cabins were EVEN cleaner than yesterday, which is AWESOME!!!!
After lunch we made our way to the BEST TIME….. RESTTTT TIMEEEEEEEEE. This is the ideal time for campers to take time and relax before the next two periods and the evening activity. Rest time allows for card games like solitaire, relaxing in bed, or reading a book! After our rest, the kids made their way to their free time! Intermediate campers enjoyed a free swim, and the clothing room was open to intermediate and junior campers! Then, we enjoyed the last two periods of our day! For dinner, we devoured some pasta, breadsticks, and apple turnovers. WHAT A COMBO!!
Let me tell you about the two trips we had going out today….
We had a RAFTING trip with Ari B, James De L, Will K, Briggs L, Darby M, Charlie S, Knox W, Johnny R, Charles S, Davis M, Will H, and Sawyer S.
I have a river pun I shall share with you now… What did the river sue for? Beaver damage….
AS WELL….. We had a morning hike to go out with Richard F, Braxton B, Bryston A, Max C, John S, Allen B, Stewart W, Everett K, Reid L, Beckett A, Dash W, and Liles F. Since I had a river joke now it is time for my hiking meme….
“I don’t get it? The trail looked so flat on the map?”
Luckily for these kids this was not an issue! They are all pro hikers! Sidenote: ALL of the kids I talked to about this hike raved about it!
We have an exciting night ahead for our campers! Senior Cabin Night!!! YESSSSSSSS!!! Little Piney and Big Piney will have a rather slippery night as they take on the slip-n-slide tonight. After the slippery slopes of Spyglass, they will enjoy a free swim. Who doesn’t love a free swim? I would definitely love to jump in the lake on these hot, hot days! Stompers Knob will take on pickleball and popsicles! For those who have not heard of pickleball, it is an up-and-coming sport! It has been a HIT with the kids and I am very excited for them to battle it out on the courts. Little Slaty will have a family feud night and then take it to a campfire with s’mores, while Big Slaty has a game night in store for them. Greybeard will enjoy a poker night tonight. After their game nights, there will be a glow-in-the-dark ultimate frisbee game between Big Slaty and Greybeard. What is better than a campfire? NOTHING. In fact it reminds me of Camp Rock. What a movie!?! As for our lovely Junior and Intermediate Camp kids, they will enjoy a game called Stealing Skins! This game is a big hit with the kids! When the kids from Finch’s Landing heard about what game they were about to play, they were jumping for joy. Although I love writing these articles for the parents to give them more insight into the camp’s ongoing activities, I wish I could watch them play one of their favorite games! We shall see by tomorrow who wins stealing skins…. THE GOLDEN EAGLES OR THE BLACK BEARS!!!!!! ONLY TIME WILL REVEAL THIS INFORMATION TO US! So, parents and guardians, I invite you to tune back in tomorrow to learn more about what a Wednesday at Timberlake will be like.
