Good evening to all of the fantastic readers of tonight’s farticle (I believe it means funny-article and not fart-article, but to be honest I am still not entirely sure… Anywho… Let us dive into today!)

Today started as a misty cool morning here at Camp Timberlake and a shroud of fog loomed eerily around the cabins. The eerieness was soon obsolete as 172 campers arose from their slumber and trekked their way to a delicious breakfast. After a short (but crisp) morning yell, we were stoked to have a true story and bible verse (Mathew 9: 12- 13) read to us by CG in the chapel, and after a quick cabin cleanup we jumped into the activities for the day.

This was soon cut short by the crisp crack of lightning, followed one second later by the striking clap of thunder, and it was then that we noticed the wall of rain traveling quickly towards Camp, we thought the day was over…

However, the darkened cloud of slippery precipitation did not alter the day in the life of Camp Timberlake one little bit! During the slightly less humid hours of camp today, we had some incredible accomplishments. Matthew A. got his first grouping for his platinum in riflery, and Henry P., Pick D., Claude C., Richard R., and Noah L. got their first couple bronze groupings in archery. Shooting towards the mountain biking hut, we watched as the mountain bikers rode the berm, and shred the muddy gnar down Spyglass Hill. Rolling down to kayaking, Bay J. got his combat roll on the Tuckasegee River today, and Henry B. accomplished his first roll in the lake today. However, the action did not stop there! Last night, we had not one, but two overnight trips! The first was the cabin of Further In. These brave young men slept under the pounding of rain in the chapel last night! The other trip was an overnight rock climbing trip to the Linville Chimneys.  Conquering both top rope and bouldering routes, Rocco M., SJ G., Knox W., Walker F., Finley R., Keefer M., Sawer S., Owen S., and Richard R., braved their way to the top of these impressive (and not easy routes). Their mental battle, however, was not tested on the rocks, but instead when their tarp started to slightly flood under the monsoon of rain that the Linville Gorge experienced last night. The adventure does not end there though as we travel 47.7 miles back to Camp Timberlake, and watched as Thomas M., Grant S., Declan Q., Quinn S., Theo T., Kaito T., Reid S., Thomas R., Tommy F., Liam T., Stephen Q., Reynolds A., Elijah H., Ian P., Garrett M., Aaron W., Matthew A., Paxton S., William C., and David T., battled out in Camp Timberlake’s very own adventure race. This race is a test of physical, and mental toughness, and is not for the faint of heart. The outcome of this race is to be determined, as its finishing round of adventure is tomorrow. I am sorry to keep you all in suspense but I am sure an update will soon follow.

To wrap up the day today, we had a delightful dinner filled with egg rolls and spicy chicken, followed by a savory lemon dessert. The campers then battled out in a camp classic: Age of Empires. More to follow up with that tomorrow!

It has been an absolute pleasure everyone. And remember, the dinner for staff reunion comes from Napoles!

Be safe and stay steezy,
