The first full day of camp has arrived, and what a day it was! Spirits were high this morning as
we enjoyed a delicious breakfast of french toast, crispy bacon, and as always- a full glass of
water to stay hydrated!

The energy carried straight into the morning yell, echoing across camp like a battle cry for the
day ahead. Afterwards we enjoyed a great chapel hearing from our fearless leader, John
Menendez, on his amazing golfing skills as a child and how it connected to Isaiah 53: 4-5. With
spirits and heads held high, the boys went on to the best part of the day- cabin clean up!
After lots of hard work and team efforts from all cabins, only one can reign victorious. The
cleanest cabin at Camp Timberlake this Tuesday was Turtleback! After this exciting competition,
the campers headed on to explore their classes and activities- some for the first time ever!
Speaking of firsts, today marked the very first Cricket class at Camp Timberlake! Six very lucky
campers, Alex B, Sewell B, Tucker C, Luke H, James H, and Danny W, had the chance to try
a crack at scoring over their opponents with wickets and bats. It was a blast to see these
campers dive into a new activity with so much excitement!

We had two trips leave this morning for some amazing adventures out of camp property!
Michael V, Andrew C, Patterson S, Walker S, Thomas B, Coleman J, Owen M, Sebastian P,
Roman F, David H, Trevor S, and Ben T, all enjoyed an amazing rafting trip on the beautiful
French Broad. The rapids didn’t stand a chance against this crew’s paddling power! Out on the
South Mountain, we had an excited group of fly fishers take on the day. Wesley S, Alex B,
Ashton M, Zach W, Case H, and Solomon P, enjoyed a lovely sunny day for some great
catches!

Following a camp favorite lunch of chicken quesadillas, beans, as well as some delicious
toppings, we discovered the winner of last night’s evening activity. After great effort from both
tribes and three very close rounds, let’s hear a big cheer for the Black Bears taking on the
victory!

Later on, during free time, gaga ball once again showed its power to level the playing field.
Andrew I and Neil R took early control of the pit, but Maverick C came to play. He took
home the victory and showed the arena who is boss.

Back at camp, archery was another highlight of the day. John L and Cade D achieved a
grouping (a big accomplishment in precision shooting), while Hays W hit his first-ever bullseye!
The archery range was buzzing with cheers of encouragement and celebration.

Concluding a dinner of baked ham, cornbread, and veggies, campers gathered for the evening
activity: Search and Destroy. This Timberlake classic pits two teams against each other in a
high-stakes game of stealth, speed, and strategy. To find out who comes out on top, stay tuned
for tomorrow’s blog!

Whether it was hitting a bullseye, paddling down a roaring river, or just making a new friend,
every camper experienced something new today—and that’s what camp is all about.

We can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings. Stay tuned. There are more adventures to come here at Camp Timberlake!
