See you next summer session 1A!
See you next summer session 1A!
It was a beautiful but bittersweet day here at Camp Timberlake as we said goodbye to our 1A campers. The day started with light rain showers as we walked to breakfast, but the while we munched on waffle and sausages the rain broke and we had a sunny morning for checkout. It was fun watching parents and campers reunite and to hear the beginnings of what was sure to be a car ride home full of stories shared of adventures had and friends made. All the same we will really miss our 1A guys! The good news is that goodbyes at camp are never forever, and all throughout property the cries of “See you next summer” could be heard echoing off the hills.
Our full session campers themselves did not stop the fun and adventure. This morning we sent out a big day hike to Hawksbill mountain, which, in my humble opinion, boasts the best 360 degree view around. Tucker L, Tobias C, Grayson S, McKean K, Henry L and Stephen J pushed through a steep climb up the mountain and enjoyed the payoff of an incredible view
Back at camp our other 4 week campers enjoyed chicken wings and onion rings for lunch, along with sides of honeydew, jalapeño poppers and loaded tater tots. There’s no meal like a split session meal. We also got the chance to sing a big happy birthday to our very own Henry O.
The afternoon was full of paddleboarding and free swim down on Lake Newcomb and after a dinner of tortellini, salad and breadsticks, all campers and staff headed to Spencers green for a fun game of WiffleKick. Wifflekick is basically wiffleball and kickball happening simultaneously. Two pitchers pitch or roll the ball to two batters who run in opposite directions around the bases. As you might imagine, hilarity soon ensues.
To all our amazing 1A families, thank you for sharing your sons with us this summer. Continue to follow along here all summer to keep your boys posted on who wins the banner, which cabin wins the golden plunger and much much more. And we can’t wait to see you back next summer!
And for our Full session campers the adventure continues! Thanks for joining us for the ride.
