We’ve reached the final day of Session 1A. It’s bittersweet to think of our time together with our two week campers coming to an end, but what an end it was! Today was Tribapalooza!!

This is a special day that only happens a couple times all summer long where instead of going to our daily activities, we play tribal games all day long. Today we started by playing “The Hunger Games” where the mighty men of Greybeard served as tributes and duked it out all over camp property. In the end there could only be one winner, however, and it was Barrett G who emerged victorious from the fray. Meanwhile, the rest of the camp was engaged in a fierce battle of El Presidente, one of the most popular tribal games here at Timberlake. 

At lunch enjoyed delicious tacos in a bag with all the fixings. The final results for cabin clean up came in and Turtleback was crowned champion! They are currently enjoying the fruits of their labor in the dining hall (a cabin pizza party). The sultan of fun also announced the winner of last nights’ Junior and intermediate camp game of Bandits Rancheros…the Black Bears! Shortly after a rousing rendition of the black bear fight song and hymn, the results from senior camp’s game of Pirate ball were announced…Golden Eagles! It’s been a great, back and forth competition all session long and I can’t wait to see how the next two weeks play out. 

In the afternoon we enjoyed our final free time and Director John issued a challenge to any who were feeling strategic to come and play him in connect 4 at the beach. Though many perished in the effort Rives J and Teddy S were able to stump him!

We then got to play yet another tribal game, commando! A giant water balloon fight, commando is legendary around here and today’s edition was a worthy addition to the great lore of the game. After devouring a delicious dinner of chicken alfredo, roasted vegetables and breadsticks it was off to our final Little Chief ceremony of session 1A. Even though the rain forced us to move the ceremony indoors, it did not diminish just how special it was to take time this evening to recognize so many guys for the great things we’ve seen from them this week. Check out the highlights below! As the rain continues to fall here in the mountains the boys are settling down for night. Another great day and another fantastic week in the books here at Timberlake!
