It’s the final campfire! 

Today was an incredible final full day for the first session here at Timberlake. Campers enjoyed a full day of trips and final times in their activities. Quay B, Bubba L, Sam J, Logan D, James B, Matthew D, Reed P and William F went kayaking on the Tuckaseegee River and did excellent. Charlie H, Ford Z, Teddy L, Brooks M, Harris W, and Campbell N meanwhile had a big day out rock climbing at Instinct Boulder. We had our first trail running trip of the summer as Owen G, Luke T, Eric H, Michael C, Cullen S, Noah H, Ellis W, Hayden B, and William Q enjoyed some of the picturesque trails in Montreat. The final trip was just up the road as Case M, Ryker R, Banks P, Mason S, Henry O, Lewis S, Ryan H and David F went up to Merri-Mac for a friendly archery competition. It was an excellent day of shooting and the Timberlake boys were able to come out on top!

At a delicious taco in a bag lunch it was announced that Stomper’s knob had won the golden plunger! Cemented themselves as the cleanest cabin of camp and earning the coveted pizza party, the boys from stomper’s raised the roof with their cheers. 

Tonight’s evening activity was extremely special. First we had a Little chief ceremony (full awards below) which was highlighted by three young men earning the highest rank possible here at Timberlake, Little Chief. Henry O, Barrett G and Edward S all received their Little Chief tonight and it was such a joy to celebrate them. 

We concluded our night with the final campfire, where staff share memories of the session and the Greybeard campers all get the chance to stand in front to speak to the whole camp. It’s always such an encouragement to hear these 16 year olds reflect on their years at camp and tonight was particularly special. 

It has been an amazing session and we are so thankful for each and every one of the campers who was a part of it.
