Tuesday at Camp Timberlake was nothing short of glorious, as the campers were greeted with delectable, buttery French Toast and smoky sausage for today’s breakfast.

Fueled with the energetic breakfast, the campers rushed down the stairs of the Tuck to do their daily morning yell. As the camp’s hills echoed with children’s booming yells, the campers rushed to the Chapel to learn about who Jesus was, a daily reflection and purpose before the chaotic day commenced. After chapel, the boys sprinted to the cabins, determined to score a rare perfect score (10) on their cabin.

Throughout the morning were some exciting trips, including the overnight kayaking trip featuring Giancarlo Z., JD A., Carson K., Brazton F., and Teddy M., who departed yesterday. A fantastic fly-fishing trip went out as well with its campers, including Zade B., Xavier B., Bran O., Thomas H., Ryan D., Thomas W., and Jack L. An exciting day hike to Upper Creek Fall included 13 adventurous souls, Beau I., Jake O., Rico E., Kolson M., Jack G., Barnes Z., John L., Alexis B., Finley S., Thomas C., Brody R., Owen T., and Reid S

At lunch, curly fries and Philly Subs were served, exciting the campers as they rushed to get refills on the curly fries. Afterwards, two important announcements were made. The first important announcement was the Cabin Cleanup contenders, which included among the best of the best Turtleback, Finches Landing, Little Slaty, Big Piney, and Big Slatey. Cleanlines wins! The Black Bears themselves managed to earn an impressive upset victory over the Golden Eagles, winning Commando and increasing their lead in the Banner.

Throughout camp, the campers found themselves busy with a plethora of fun-filled activities. Richard B. managed to get his very first bronze grouping in archery without a bow, but by only throwing it at the target? Talk about impressive! Gary M. got his gold in improv, including performing a 90-second monologue talking about how much Greybeard is respected in cabin life and how he loves serving Camp Timberlake. Emerson F. also got his gold in Disc Golf after an intense matchup with the counselor, Austin. Swimming made a splash as Penn Charles D. achieved his silver in swimming along with Davis T. and Jack H. Swishing their way to success in Basketball was Axle B., who completed his silver requirement of 6/10 threes, and Knox S., completing his silver requirement of 6/10 threes and 8/10 free throws. Hayes C. scored an impressive consecutive 15/15 free throws, which requires a HUGE amount of patience and dedication. Jack W was able to finish his silver requirements for Basektball and Grant C earned his bronze AND silver in Mountain Biking. Last but certainly not least, the archery range was buzzing as young men competed in tryouts, determined to beat Camp MerriMac in the annual archery tournament. Keep in mind, Camp Timberlake has a long, successful record of winning in the archery tournament, so the tryouts couldn’t be more important for these young men, as the best of the best are selected.

Tonight, the Golden Eagles need to secure a win in tonight’s game, Age of Empires, to even out the race for the Banner. Will it be impossible or possible for the Black Bears to win tonight’s game and potentially the banner? Or will the Golden Eagles strike with their talons for the banner? Only time will tell in tomorrow’s blog!
