It’s the Final Campfire
It’s the Final Campfire
As the campers rise for a delicious Geometry breakfast of Shapes, the hills of Timberlake are cloaked by a veil of thick mist. Fitting that our final full day in Session 2 and Final Campfire ends just as our initiation begins. Veiled…IN MYSTIC LOVELINESS!
This Thursday was action packed, full of trips and thrills and activities. Matthew H., Santiago M., Brody R., Teddy M., Thomas C., Liam L., Duncan N., Hayes C., Jack L., Michael T., and Owen T. all had an amazing time rushing down rapids on the French Broad during their Rafting trip. Also spending some time on some river rapids, Quay B., Alexis B., Braxton F., Carson K., Jack G., and Giancarlo Z., expertly maneuvered down the Tuckasegee River in their kayaks. Knox C., Stephen D., Parker C., George Y., Collier V., Fuller B., and Jim B., enjoyed a day hike to visit the epic waterfall at Huskin’s Branch. And just today, our sister Camp, Merri-Mac, came over for an intense Archery competition between the two camps. Both camps shot extremely well, but Timberlake came out on top in the end (of course) keeping our winning streak alive.
After many yells of “STROMBOLI!” and enjoying one of the most amazing Lunches in camp, it was time to learn who had won the most coveted cleaning prize, The Golden Plunger. It’s been a tight race all session and it came to an end today, the top three cabins, Finch’s Landing, Turtleback, and Big Piney were neck and neck and today’s score would determine the winner. Tensions were high as the entire camp awaited the victory announcement. And the winner, finishing strong with a perfect 10 was…Turtleback! The victor of Search and Destroy last night would remain a mystery…for now.
Soon, the campers were off and about enjoying their final free time of the summer. From free climb to free swim to shredding on the Mountain Biking airbag jump, everyone is making the most of these final moments for the summer and trying to fit in as much fun as they can. As free time closes, the entire camp gathered together in the chapel for one final activity. Timberlake’s-Got-Talent! From Blake L playing the flute to Harrison B doing magic tricks to Santiago M singing, Ben P playing guitar, and even Ethan W. catching a thrown marshmallow in his mouth from across the chapel and the cabin of Greybeard performing a stunning skit, the entire camp enjoyed an afternoon filled with amazement and laughter.
As our final day winds down to a close, the entire camp gathered together again for our Final Campfire. There we began with a Little Chief Ceremony, recognizing campers who excelled in cabin leadership, received bars in activities, or achieved new ranks in the Little Chief system.

After recognizing all the achievements from our campers over the past two weeks, we concluded the ceremony by sharing some memories from the past two weeks and some final words from our Greybeard cabin. This session has truly been one to remember and it wouldn’t have been the same without each and every camper.
