Another Epic Day
Another Epic Day
The day began with another beautiful morning at Camp Timberlake—the birds in full song, the sun filtering gently through the trees, and the steady hum of cicadas wrapping the camp in its familiar summer soundtrack. After a yummy breakfast of pancakes and sausages, our incredible group of CITs gathered the entire
camp for the Morning Yell. It was their final full day with us before our third group of CITs arrive tomorrow, and they led with unmatched spirit and
heart. Their voices echoed across camp as they rallied their fellow campers to seize every moment of the day ahead.
As always at Timberlake, a new day means new adventures—and today did not disappoint. Three exciting trips set out, offering campers the chance to embrace the wild in true Timberlake fashion. First, Sam H., Kellan P., Reid L., Ford C., Elliot A., Alex C., and Luke M. paddled into action on a whitewater kayaking trip, navigating the rushing river. Next, Max C., Andrew M., Theo L., Grayson J., Robert B., and Marshall S. shouldered their packs and set off into the woods on a rugged backpacking overnight. Finally, tapping into their inner pioneers, Theo T., Zach M., Kaito T., Jack S., Beckett B., Reid S., and Cooper W. embarked on an overnight expedition in what might be our most ancestral activity, canoeing.
Back at camp, the action didn’t slow down. Parker S. showed off a truly impressive range of talents, first crushing it in kayaking, then shredding the mountain biking trails. But perhaps his most unforgettable moment came when he stood before the entire camp and gave a full-hearted performance of “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?” His rendition was so genuine, so entertaining, that it earned a standing ovation from the entirety of camp.
At lunch we enjoyed Meatball subs, pineapple slices and french fries and Greybeard was crowned king of cabin cleanup with a perfect 10! Meanwhile, Tommy F stepped up as a leader, helping run an Airsoft class. On the athletic front, Wilson F., Ryan H., Cole B., and Reynolds A. hit a major milestone, completing their sixth Crooked Mile run. In the world of sports and skill classes, achievements were coming in strong. Oliver M., Harrison L., and Liam T. earned bronze bars in Disc Golf, navigating the course with precision. Over on the ranges both Wilson F. and Oliver G. displayed sharp focus earning multiple bronze groupings. In the area of performing Ryan H., SJ Gilliam, and Brooks D. showed
creativity earning their bronze in improv.
As the day began to transition into night, the dining hall buzzed with anticipation. After a delicious dinner of orange chicken, rice, stir fry vegetables, egg rolls and sugar cookies for dessert, Camp legend Seth Braney charged around the room like a headless chicken, building suspense with every
step. Then, with an earth-shattering bellow, he revealed tonight’s evening activity El presidente. The room erupted with excitement, and the campers’ anticipation was not met with disappointment. They eagerly exited the dining hall to prepare for what is often regarded as camp’s greatest game.
Until tomorrow,
