As the sun starts setting on this beautiful day God gave us, let us look back at everything that happened here, at Camp Timberlake, on this Wonderful Wednesday. From bars in activities to trips to all the news that make us scream as loud as a million-man battalion in excitement, you will be able to get that insider info below. No detail shall be spared.

Our day began at 7:00 am sharp, when Reveille gave us all the signal that it was time to get up and start another highly memorable day at Camp Timberlake. These growing men made their way down to breakfast to give their bodies the fuel they needed to warm up engines and were pleasantly surprised with French Toast sticks for breakfast: a camp favorite breakfast that starts the day off in the best way possible. With their stomachs full and smiles on their faces, the boys headed outside for a rowdy morning yell, led by the dynamic duo of Matt Witte and John Menendez, right before marching on to chapel!

The boys were roaring today at Chapel, praising God by singing loud and oozing energy! Today we were blessed with a true story from Caleb, who told the tale of how he lost his front tooth when he was younger by playing around with lightsabers. He told us how shame would not allow him to face his mom and tell the truth, tying it to how from our first sin, mankind has tried to hide from God, but also how holding on to it weighs us down, because we know we have failed our Creator, who love us and wants us to succeed every step of the way. After a prayer we were off to clean those cabins and shift into second gear, because there was a whole day of fun to get through!

Parallel to that, we had two trips going out today. Ben C., Liam B., Stephen G., Baxter L., Owen C. and Nick Q embarked in a “trout-tastic” fly fishing trip to Hunt Fish Falls. Meanwhile, Gage S., Titus W., Davis O., Tyler T., James N., Kai J., Cole G., Bennett B., Gus M., Pierce S., Henry D. and Owen H did some adventuring of their own, going down the thrilling rockslide over at the majestic Upper Creek Falls. Last but not least, our very best “yakers” brought the stokes to the French Broad Section 9 for our highest-level kayaking trip camp has to offer. Our star paddlers of the day were Bay J., Cian M., Geo P. and Wilson F and saying they boofed it would be an understatement!

Back at camp, hard work and fun are a recipe for hungry stomachs, and what better way to satisfy that need at lunch than with the writer’s biased favorite meal: Gyros. Like in every meal, the anticipation of cabin cleanup scores filled the room. Today was an underdog story unlike any other, in which BIG SLATY surprised everyone by getting a perfect 10 which was more than enough to earn them that top spot of the day. Now the hardest part: keeping up that good work, the Golden Plunger is really up for grabs for anyone now. Then it was time to find out if redemption was sweet and the answer was yes. It was the BLACK BEARS’ turn to sing after conquering the beach in the chaotic and unpredictable game PIRATE BALL!

After the best time (rest time) junior and intermediate camp rallied for a refreshing free swim during free time. Following that, two more periods of activities and achievements continued. Talking about achievements, Cole T., G. Smith, Ari P., all earned a hard-fought bronze bar in wrestling. Powers T., Sam H., Tommy W. and Ben W. all obtained their silver in swimming. The activity of Rocketry had Gus F. earning his bronze bar and Reid S. earning his gold. The day also saw Thomas R. and Zack R. learning their backdecks in kayaking, something to be stoked about.

Just in time to calm the sound or rumbling stomachs again, a beefy, protein filled dinner was ready for our enjoyment. The cherry on top was a birthday cake dessert that left all of use wanting more. However, that desire of extra dessert was quickly drowned by the excitement of what today’s evening activities would be. Cabin Pride chants began as Junior and Intermediate Camp cabin night was announced and the roof almost fell down when the sultan of fun broke the news that Senior Camp would play a camp favorite game of SEARCH AND DESTROY!

As the sun lowers behind the beautiful mountains of North Carolina, another wonderful day at Camp Timberlake starts coming to an end. It is days like these that create year-long-lasting memories in our boys. We cannot wait for another adventure filled day to start tomorrow, but for now, much deserved rest is almost here. These boys better rest up, because the last week of camp begins in just a few hours. Stay tuned for more updates to come!
