Adventures all day long!
Adventures all day long!
Good Evening Timberlake Families,
We had an amazing day here at camp. With a nice break from the rain and a cool campus, all of us were ready to sieze the day!
Things kicked off with some GEOMETRY BREAKFAST, where the boys crafted their sandwiches with all sorts of geometrical shapes. It definitely hit the spot. After breakfast the boys headed on out for the Hawksbill counselor section yell. Very entertaining I must say. After the sounds of 35 million billion horses were heard stampeding across the “mesa”, the camp headed over to the chapel where several camp classics were played. After the songs, Catherine Menendez gave us a true story about a time where she got lost in an extravagant castle and related it to how we are sometimes lost and only the Lord above can save us. She quotes from Matthew 4:30-33 which tells the tale of Jesus walking on water and asking Peter to trust him as he attempts to walk as well. Peter fails and cries for the Lord to save him. Jesus saves him, just as he saves us.
After a beautiful chapel and an intense cabin cleanup, morning activities began. Oliver G. got 3 30 yard groupings in Archery. Over at the lake, Reynolds A. got his gold in canoeing and Armand R. and Ben R. got their bronze in kayaking. Over at the tower, a member of our youngest cabin, Abel F, crushed it on the climbing wall today!
Off campus, Timberlake had several amazing outdoor adventures. Reid S., Jonas M., Henry B., Cooper W., Eli F., Kaito T., Theo T., Jack S., Asher C., Radford W., Ben C., Bay J., and Jonah N., explored the depths of the rivers on a newer river snorkeling trip! Those boys had a blast hiking, snorkeling, and seeing a much talked about “Brook Trout.” On an epic climbing trip were, Wyatt B., James N., Charlie M., Powers T., Charlie C., and George S. Finally on the fastest French Broad lap ever in a raft in Timberlake history was Alden S., Robert R., Cash K., Ben R., Sam R., Gage S., Duncan M., John Grady M., Cole T., Maddox H., Steven G., and James S.!
After Morning activities the boys headed to the Tuck for chicken tenders and fries! It was an absolute hit. Cabin cleanup scores came in with Big Piney taking the win with a PERFECT 10 over Hawksbill and Tiger Tooth. After a few staff announcements, it was time to find out who won tribal soccer and tribal basketball…the winner of tribal soccer and basketball is…THE GOLDEN EAGLES!!!! The entire Tuck erupted into tremendous noise and applause as the Golden Eagles sang their tribe hymn. After lunch and rest time the camp scattered all around camp to complete their “bars” so that they could move up the ranks of the historic “Little Chief System.” One of the most prominent free time bar activities was Rocketry with Will N. and Oliver G. receiving their Gold. In Pickleball, McGinn M., Nick Q., and Liam C., got their Silver bars.
On the Afternoon slate of activities, there was a ton of fun happening all around camp. Matthew R. received his Gold in Airsoft! Jacob R. and Steele G. got their bronze in cricket. Lastly Todd Michael P. got his silver in Fencing. These were just a few of the awesome things happening in activities around camp as the boys begin to close out their second to last classes on their Monday, Wednesday, Friday schedules.
At dinner, the classic Potroast, Mashed Potatoes, and Dinner rolls were served! The dessert was a delicious chocolate cake that was devoured by all of the camp. After the meal and a few staff announcements, Jake Highfield announced our evening activities as “SENIOR CAMP CABIN NIGHT, JUNIOR CAMP BATTLE BALL!!!” Which caused a loudness never before heard by most people, but here at Camp TImberlake, it’s a nightly occasion. Senior camp is looking to find out who can have the most fun out of the 7 cabins while The Black Bears look to make a last minute comeback and the Eagles look to move one step closer to their first win since Second Session 2023. For now, we must wait for as I am writing this the two tribes are duking it out up at the Mark, and Senior Camp is having the time of their lives all over property. Thanks for reading!
In Christ,
