Sunday is a special day here at Camp Timberlake. Today, we take time to rest and enjoy a break from the rush of normal activities and camp life. We started the day of rest with an extra hour of sleep, much needed after such an eventful week. Every well-rested camper rushed down to breakfast for a Sunday special of Cinnamon rolls, bagels, and everyone’s favorite…Chocolate Milk.

After our delicious breakfast, the camp headed over to Chapel for an extra special chapel where we sang 4 songs instead of the usual 3, and instead of our typical True Story, cabin counselors from Finch’s Landing all the way to Greybeard prayed for their campers.

After spending some time on cabin cleanup, the whole camp rushed down to the lake to watch the beginning of the Timberlake Triathlon, a race where senior campers will swim across the lake, bike a loop around camp, and then run another loop around camp. As soon as our fearless campers finished the swimming portion, campers set out on a set of various Sunday funday activities. From a Sandcastle building competition down at the beach, to fort building in the woods by the Supply Drop, card games at the Chapel, and a tradition unlike any other, Sunday at the Master’s.

During these Sunday Funday activities, Elliot A., Stone C., Grayson L., Coleman J., Sewell B., Owen M., JB S., Trevor S., Sam S., William L., David D., Andrew K., and Hayden B. all headed out on our most popular trip at camp, a day hike to Upper Creek Falls, where they had a lot of fun sliding down rocks and splashing around in a swimming hole. In addition, Remy. H, Huck H., Lukas L., Silas S., Brady K., and Tobias C. went out for some reel fun out in the river by catching some fish out on a Fly fishing trip

After the morning activities, we headed to the Tuck for a lunch of ham and cheese croissant sandwiches and pretzel bites. At the end of lunch we found out the winners of each morning activity.

Along with winning some morning competitions, Stomper’s Knob and Greybeard both won cabin cleanup today with a score of 9.75! Shoutout to Tomahawk, who managed an 8.5 with only 2 campers(the rest were out on trips), Roman RF. and Sebastian P.

In a surprising turn of events, our friendly neighborhood camp director, John M, had his Flipstop stolen by The Puzzler! However, Detective Archibald and his trusty sidekick from Worcestishshshshshshshshire showed up to find it! We’ll have to wait and see if they manage to locate the stolen possession. After an eventful morning, the entire camp ate some delicious Sunday Sundaes before heading back to their cabins for everyone’s favorite part of the week: Rest HOUR!

Oh and I forgot to mention that the sultan of fun also announced the winner of last night’s tribal game of counselor hunt…the Black Bears! The mighty Black Bears roared their approval as the race for the banner tightened up.

With both our minds and bodies rested, the campers rushed out for an extra-long afternoon freetime, with activities like Archery, Canoeing, and Pottery open for fun. And then full camp activities like a free swim for everyone at camp, a 2v2 pickleball tournament up at the courts and a 3v3 basketball tournament competing at the Mark.

The winners of the 3v3 basketball tournament were Christian B, Henry L and Carter S and the pickleball champions were Andrew I and Neil R

The entire afternoon was spent, it was time for our Sunday cookout up at the mark. Campers filled their bellies with hamburger’s, hotdogs, watermelon, and the oldest tradition at camp, the campfire cookie. Soon after, the camp headed down to the chapel for another Sunday favorite, Vespers!

The entire camp sang a variety of fun songs and were regaled by a variety of skits including when The puzzler and his accomplice “pieces” squared off with detectives once again in an attempt to find John’s flip stop. Some campers did a great skit about life in Greybeard (our oldest cabin) and Inspector Wreckit had to be foiled in his attempt to fill in the lake to build a parking lot. We sang so loud I’m pretty sure nobody will be able to talk for the rest of the day or even tomorrow. We finished off with a quick chapel where John M  shared a True Story about a beach trip gone wrong illustrating our need for a savior. Then Senior camp headed off to play some Tribal Soccer and Tribal Basketball to close off the night.

Now, as the sun sets and the camp settles down to prepare for tomorrow. Their heads upon their pillows, they start to hear a legendary story of Cowboy Joe. We’ll have to wait and see what this means for tomorrow…
