It’s not goodbye, it’s see you next summer!
It was a beautiful but bittersweet day here at Camp Timberlake as we said goodbye to our 1A campers. The sun was shining, smiles were everywhere, and families filled camp as parents reunited with their sons after two weeks of adventure. Pickup day is always a special one. It’s fun to watch campers introduce new friends, and begin telling stories that will no doubt continue all the way home.
While we’re sad to see our 1A campers leave, there’s always comfort in knowing that camp goodbyes are rarely forever. Throughout the morning, “See you next summer!” could be heard all across camp as campers loaded up and headed home. We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to spend part of their summer with them and can’t wait to welcome many of them back again next year.
For our full-session campers, the day looked a little different. With camp feeling quieter than usual, they enjoyed a relaxing afternoon filled with free swim, pickleball, hammock lounging, and a few important visits to the Trade Post. After two busy weeks of camp, it was a great chance to slow down and enjoy a beautiful day in the mountains.
Dinner tonight was a crowd favorite. The kitchen served up delicious brisket, and campers were treated to red velvet cookies for dessert. Needless to say, there were plenty of clean plates heading back to the dish room.
After dinner, campers got to test out the newest game in the Camp Timberlake evening activity lineup: Trench Warfare. This brand-new game puts a fresh spin on Battle Ball and immediately proved to be a hit. Filled with teamwork, strategy, and plenty of action, Trench Warfare looks like it might be sticking around for years to come.
As the sun sets on Session 1A, camp is settling into a peaceful evening. Our full-session campers are getting some much-needed rest because tomorrow brings the arrival of Session 1B and the start of another exciting chapter of the summer.
To all of our 1A families, thank you for sharing your sons with us these past two weeks. We hope they return home with great memories, stronger friendships, and stories they’ll be telling for months. And for our full-session campers, the adventure continues. We’ll see everyone back here tomorrow for the start of Session 1B!
