Misty morning, and a faint call echoed through the wood; “Seize the day, Camp Timberlake, seize the day!”. And seized the day we did. A triumphant bugle rang campers back to conscience from their distant dreams of what their activity schedules might hold in store for them. Shortly after the bugle came a big, breathtaking, blinger blicking good breakfast. Lots of protein to fuel for the day’s activities, as well as your fellow micronutrients that truly do matter more than you think. Camp Timberlake was alive with the hymns and hums of second session’s chapel serenades; songs so well sung by manly voices that the wildlife leaned a patient ear to catch even a note of our praises to God. Cabin cleanup roared to life without even turning over once, like an old diesel might, with more than 5 cabins achieving above a 9.

When activities finally rolled around the corner, we found that even a first day will not stop people from achieving what they set their hearts to. Harrison C and Emerson F set their hearts towards puncturing a poor, innocent target with tons of arrows. Eventually, this seemingly worked out when Harrison C received his Silver, along with 4 groupings at 40 yards, and Emerson achieved a nice 30 yard grouping. Steady hands fellas. Rafting took a trip out today, visiting the French Broad Section 9. A gorgeous river filled with white caps of crashing water. Down at wrestling, Andrew M had the best first practice a man could ask for. Thax also completed his bronze in this legendary class. Down at the emerald green waters of the Timberlake lake, a certain activity was making the most of the calm waves, embarking on legendary adventures in 2 person vessels. Luke H and Santi M earned their sealegs with bronze bars. Finally, up in the mystic and artificial mountains of Timberlake Climbing, climbing class met the auto-belay goblins. Thankfully, Alex H braved the wall, learned his knots, and recited his safety commands for a bronze bar. Better luck next time, goblins.

Dinner finally reared its nutritious head, with close to 5000 loaves of Sister Schubert bread and fried chicken. A modern take on such a classic story. With Jake H gone fishing, Wells F scrambled through the dining hall to announce the games tonight. A Junior camp classic of Rancheros, and a Senior camp throwback of Ultimate Basketball. Goodluck to both tribes, but my yellow and blue will always shine through. Thankfully the rain has staved off for one more day, and we here at Camp Timberlake will bask in this sunlight until it leaves us once more.

For as Rudyard Kipling once said, “The truly healthy man doesn’t know he has a liver”, and nor do you know the adventures you have until they have passed. Up and attem, Timberlake. Until next time…
