Another beautiful Sunday here at Camp Timberlake started off with an extra hour of sleep, providing campers the perfect boost before a day full of activity. Our incredibly talented kitchen staff blessed us this morning with a plethora of ooey gooey cinnamon rolls, bagels with cream cheese, and CHOCOLATE MILK… a new and exciting addition to the neighborhood table morning lineup. With full bellies, campers shuffled outside for the morning yell followed by a chapel service dedicated to worship and cabin prayer.

Throughout the day, campers had an abundance of freedom in choosing their Sunday activities. From giant Jenga to puppy playtime to camp-wide free swim, the choices were endless. Some campers even decided to join in on some friendly competition and came out victorious like Owen W, Eli F, and Hayes T showing off their skills in the sandcastle building contest and Case E, Boston P, and Ryder B crushing the competition in fort building. Lucas O found triumph in a game of World Cup, while Jay and Andrew (two AWESOME representatives of our maintenance staff) swept their opponents playing a round of Sunday at the Masters. Campers Henry O and Ryker R also had their eyes on the prize and both achieved their bronze bars in archery! Meanwhile outside of camp, Ellis B, Loren C, Luke F, William F, Lewis J, Nicholas R, William S, Griffin W, Archer R, Briggs F, and Lawson M attended an exciting trip to go white water rafting on the French Broad; while the cabin of Turtleback journeyed to Upper Creek Falls!

Following a scrumptious cabin-serviced dinner of pizza and fresh cut watermelon, the boys attended vespers where our friendly neighborhood camp director, John, shared a true story reflecting how we as humans need to let go and listen to God’s plan for our lives instead of our own. The day wrapped up with two exciting evening activities: senior camp basketball and junior camp soccer.

With only one week left of session 1, the fight for the banner is growing more intense by the day. Only time will tell which tribe will reign supreme this session…
