Session 3B of Camp Timberlake is officially underway! Today all of camp was buzzing with energy as campers poured onto property, ready to get started with a great session. Each day we will post a blog as well as pictures from the day at camp. Our hope is to give families a window into the world your sons are experiencing here at Timberlake.

We started things off with a bang this afternoon doing our swim check and tribal initiation. Being a part of a tribe is a big deal here at Timberlake and this afternoon we had smiling faces everywhere as new campers became warriors, faithful to their tribe.

Our new Golden Eagles are: Matty C, Chase C, Brooks D, Mason D, Willard F, Eddie K, Herrick M, McGinn M, Cian M, Ari P, Nick Q, Sam R, Wyatt S, George S, Cole S, Tyler T, Malachi W, and Titus W

Our new Black Bears are: Owen E, Liles F, Richard F, Watts G, Rivers G, Lee H, Ben L, Chance M, Nolan O, Odin O, Jacob R, Matthew R, Glenn S, Powers T, and Jimmy T

Each night the two tribes compete in an evening activity that counts towards winning the ultimate prize at camp, The Banner.  Tonight after dinner, the two tribes played one of the most popular games here at camp, Battleball. With some rain rolling through camp after dinner, it was the perfect opportunity to play one of our highest intensity games up in the Mark (that’s what we call our gym) and all our new initiates did a great job representing their tribe.

I almost forgot to mention the delicious dinner we enjoyed tonight. For their first night at camp, the boys got to wolf down some country fried steak, mashed potatoes and dinner rolls. We also had a full salad bar (which we have every lunch and dinner) and on the neighborhood table we had fresh fruit and noodles (adding alfredo sauce optional). For dessert we had blueberry scones. Over in Little Piney there was also some birthday cake to enjoy as we celebrated Franklin P’s birthday today! There’s nothing quite like a birthday at camp.

Today I saw new friends being made and cabins and tribes getting excited for the adventures that lie ahead. Thank you so much for sharing your sons with us this summer. We are grateful for the opportunity to work with such a fine group of young men, and to see them continue to grow and discover their unique gifts. We have a great session ahead of us and I’ll be sure to keep you posted on each day’s activities.

Happy Camping,
