Today was bittersweet here at Camp Timberlake, as we said goodbye to so many wonderful campers. Our 3A session was one for the record books and we are sorry to have it end. Campers this morning rose with the sun to enjoy one last delicious meal in The Tuck, and breakfast didn’t disappoint. We scarfed down some waffles, sausage links, grits, cereal, yogurt and fruit and then got to sing happy birthday to not one, not two, but three guys celebrating a birthday today. Cookie cake at breakfast is usually a no go, but Thomas L, James de L, and Elliott S didn’t seem to mind, and we couldn’t miss the opportunity to celebrate them before they headed home. After breakfast, all of the campers headed outside to circle up as a camp family one last time. We sang the camp hymn together and then closed by singing the doxology.

As the pickup line rolled though, it was wonderful seeing so many smiling faces and happy reunions. Campers and staff shouted “See you next summer!” and plans to stay in touch with camp friends were solidified.

Meanwhile our full session campers were not going to let the day get away without an adventure of their own. Cole R, David C, Reid S, Zach M, Davis O, Declan Q, EJ B, Quinn S, Thomas M, SJ G, Ford B, Oliver M, Peter Q, Will S, John H, Bay J, Declan L, George P-C, Matthew A, Oliver G, Radford W, Theo T, Liam T, Tommy F and Will N headed out on a hiking trip this morning to Black Balsam Knob. Black Balsam sports one of the very best views around and I know those guys are having a blast. They’ll return to camp a little bit later on to enjoy an evening free swim and beach luau, complete with a beach bonfire and some s’mores.

As we gear up to welcome a great group of 3B campers tomorrow we want to be sure to say thank you so all of our 3A families for being a part of Timberlake this summer. We can’t wait to see everybody again soon!
