Today is a glorious Sunday, and for Timberlake campers, this means an extra hour of sleep to rest their bodies for a day filled with fun! At the Tuck, everyone was greeted with a breakfast of cinnamon rolls, bagels with cream cheese, sausage, as well as our beverage of choice here at camp, -Chocolate Milk. After breakfast and the morning yell, we all made our way to the chapel where we sang the crossover of our lives with ‘Pharaoh Pharaoh’ and ‘Every Move I Make,’ with a follow-up by ‘As the Deer.’ On other days, we would then listen to a true story by a staff member, but since it’s Sunday, each cabin had a counselor pray for the young men of their cabin. This was all followed up by an hour of cabin cleaning for our boys, to start the day off nice and clean.

After cabin cleanup, everyone was ready to go take part in one of the many activities we offer on Sundays. These special activities included sandcastle building, fort building, fishing, frog catching, our world-renowned disc golf tournament Sunday at the Masters and more. As these activities were taking place, some trekkers went on an awesome day hike on the Tomahawk Trail on the Merri-Mac property. These campers were Grayson S, Oliver F, Charlie F, Eric H, Ellis W, RH B, Liam M, and Drew R. While these boys came back in the afternoon, there was another trip that left tonight that only some dare to go on, the 2 night backpacking trip, AKA Man trip. Campers David F, Barrett G, Sam C, Graham W, Aubrey S and Harrison C are ready to spend the next 2 nights in the woods, growing in the wilderness into, as some say, true men. Another big moment of Sunday is our sibling day or sibling swim, when our campers with sisters at Merri-Mac enjoy a free swim at Lake Newcomb. It was awesome to see the smile on everyone’s faces, parents be excited for those photos!

For cabin cleanup today it certainly helped some cabins more than others, as scores on Sundays are worth double! Emerging as strong favorites to win the race for the coveted golden plunger are the cabins of Tiger Tooth and Big Piney, who got a 9.25 and 9.75 respectively. Special shoutout to Stompers Knob who saw great improvement from yesterday with a solid 8.75!

After lunch and the best hour, REST HOUR! Campers spent the afternoon free to participate in activities of their choice. This included a pickleball tournament, an open climbing tower, and other activities available for campers to work on their bars. After this free time, everyone headed to Spencer’s Green for our cookout with burgers, hot dogs, campfire cookies and more. Everyone was filled up nicely and spent time talking with friends until it was time for Vespers where both staff and campers displayed their inner Broadway and showed the rest of camp the skits they’ve been working on. The Black Mountain Oysters, our very own band also performed songs for everyone, and with all of camp joining in it seemed like the entire earth was shaking.

Finally, with all of vespers done, the sultan of fun announced that Junior camp would be doing S’more fires, Intermediate camp a free swim, and Senior camp tribal basketball and tribal soccer. The younger campers got to take the rest of the night easy and relax with their friends, but our oldest campers battled through an extremely competitive game of basketball and soccer. Both Black Bear and Golden Eagle teams put on a performance, and both tribes are excited to hear who came out with the win tomorrow at lunch. The boys are now headed back to the cabins to enjoy a nice warm shower and a good night of sleep for another day of fun activities tomorrow!
