Today was another marvelous Monday at Camp Timberlake! The birds were singing and the clouds were rejoicing yet another grand start of the week. This morning the clouds engulfed Camp Timberlake and added an eerie lingering “aura” as William C. would say. For breakfast the kitchen staff whipped up a camp classic: Geometry Breakfast featuring eggs, hash browns, sausage, and rolls. The hungry campers of Camp Timberlake devoured said meal to fuel them for the day and to bless their voices as they began the morning yell and chapel. In chapel we sang three terrific songs and were blessed to hear from John about God’s abundant love and grace for us that while we were still sinners God sent His son to die for us! After chapel, these young men battled to claim the famed Golden Plunger (given to the cleanest cabin in the session) and began activities for the day.
(One honorable mention must be made as the great cabin of Greybeard has consistently put up amazing scores in cabin clean up!)
In the activities for the day many campers went above and beyond and received marks for their accomplishments. David C. got 5 groupings towards his bronze in archery, while Sam H. climbed the silver route on the tower in climbing. Thomas M. was also a literal mountain goat today as he breezed through his bronze, silver, and started his gold in climbing. In the respectable activity of fencing Brooks B., Blake F., Hudson M., Julian S., Micah A., and Parker M. received their bronze and Robert R. received their silver. In the activity of rocketry Oliver H. received his silver and G.P. earned his silver and gold. Charlie S. also got his bronze in diving today while Marco L. learned how to solve a rubik’s cube. The mark (Camp Timberlake’s basketball court) was also buzzing with many talented hoopers as over 10 campers received bronzes and silvers for their grit and perseverance on the court!
For dinner Camp Timberlake had an excellent meal consisting of warm pasta, broccoli, and savory breadsticks. Campers also had the pleasure of watching a small skit put on by Timberlake staff Archie D. and Teddy O. as they searched far and wide for John’s beloved flipstop. Campers also enjoyed singing many songs tonight as those who wore hats inside the Tuck (our dining hall) had to lead as a result.
To finish it off, campers from the Golden Eagle tribe and Black Bear tribe battled in our evening tribal game El Presidente in which the atmosphere was filled with sweat, laughs, and screams. Tomorrow the campers of Camp Timberlake will also get to experience Cowboy Joe Day as everything is in backwards order all the way from activities in the day to the way we dress to the way we talk. This is usually an amazing and exciting day from start to finish!
Overall great excitement and joy filled this very marvelous Monday and contributed to a great start to the last week of session 3A. Thrilled to see the adventure and excitement of the next coming days!
Stay tuned for more tomorrow!
Blessings upon blessings!!
