Another Glorious Day at Camp Timberlake!
Another Glorious Day at Camp Timberlake!
It was another glorious Sunday morning, radiant rays of sunlight covered the vast property of Timberlake and we were awoken by the gentle bellow of friendly neighborhood Camp Director John Menendez, reminding us it was a new day, which of course instilled in us the motivation to rise from our slumber with vigor and enthusiasm.
The Timberlake populace swiftly made their way to the Tuck as they eagerly awaited the time when they could break their fast. After tucking into some french toast, sausage, and a wide variety of fruits, the ravenous young men had finally satiated their appetite. So they congregated outside the Tuck where Chase Geary rallied the troops by spouting a plethora of patriotic imagery, such as bald eagles, rushing rivers, stampeding stallions, and the American flag!
Once the morning yell had reached its completion, and the young men of Timberlake had emptied all the air from their lungs, we marched over to the chapel in which we sang 3 songs one of them being my personal favorite, ‘Come Thou Fount’. Next, the young men began to clean their cabins as the race for the Golden Plunger begins.
Heading onto the next chapter of today, activities began at 9:45, and even on the first day, history was made as John Menendez and Jack S (Little Slaty) dethroned Kaito T and Theo T (also LS) as pickleball champions. Then, at lunch it was announced that Little Slaty is in the lead for Golden Plunger, and the Golden Eagles finally beat the Black Bears in Sock War.
After lunch, on the lake in swimming, accolades were achieved as Kai J, Tripp L, Jack W, Liles F, SJ, Kent K, Russell M and Davis O received their bronze bars, and shifting to the other side of the lake, apparently the men of canoeing learned a lot about themselves today. Now returning to land, Theo T received his silver in Disc Golf, Cole R was able to competently name the components of a mountain bike and explain the mechanisms of a hydraulic disc brake system and over in climbing the great minds of Timberlake were at work again as they studied Gnome theory and habitual behavior. Just another day of achieving greatness and making history at Camp Timberlake.
Signing Off,
