A fantastic Father Son weekend is in the books. It’s hard to say good bye to such a great group of guys, so instead we’ve just been saying see you this summer!

We started off our Sunday morning with a delicious meal of Pancakes, bacon, strawberries and blueberries. The morning was cool and brisk but a strong morning yell does wonders to get the blood flowing. After singing some camp favorites in chapel, including ‘Noah’ and ‘On Jordan’s stormy banks’, Winston shared a true story about a mountain biking adventure in the Cotswolds that helped illustrate how God rescues us even though we are powerless to help ourselves.

We took a group picture all together and then headed off to our Sunday Funday activities. These are always a hit in the summertime and today was no exception. Dads and sons chose between  the sand castle building contest, the fort building contest, fishing in the lake, Thunderball and 9 square on the beach and a tradition unlike any other, Sunday at the Masters (our Sunday disc golf tournament). A good time was had by all and but the most exciting moment of the morning had to be when Sunday at the masters needed an extra one hole sudden death playoff to determine a winner. Eli and Alex made a dramatic comeback and emerged victorious, as champions.

We wrapped up by sharing a meal together at lunch. Chicken salad on croissants, fruit salad, kale mac salad (lots of salad) pretzels, lemonade and our famous S’mores cookies made for a perfect finish. We also announced the winner of last night’s evening activity..The Black Bears!

And we would be remiss if we guys didn’t give a HUGE shoutout to all the mom’s out there on Mother’s Day. Thank you so much for sharing your family with camp on this special day. Your husbands/sons are an incredible group and I know they are ready to give some big mother’s day hugs when they get home.

As dads and sons head home today, we are so thankful for the time we’ve had together and are already looking forward to an amazing summer!

Until then,

John
