A beautiful Adventure-filled Friday at Camp!
Good evening from Camp Timberlake Ladies and Gentlemen!
Today has been a wonderful adventure-filled Friday, the morning began bright and early with some lingering fog from last night. All the boys were up and awake from their cozy beds and ready to head on to the Tuck for some warm breakfast, which today was some delicious waffle sticks and sausages, with either apple or orange juice, and like always a great selection of cereals. After breakfast the boys went outside where we held the Morning yell, which was led by Finch’s Landing Counselor John B. After our amazing yell we headed to the chapel where we sang amazing songs like The Blind Man. After singing our hearts out, Caleb Owen, one of our Assistant Directors, proceeded to tell a true story about how we as men get caught up in sin and need Jesus to guide us on the right direction.
After our wonderful worship service, all of the boys headed back to their cabins to compete for the best grade in cabin cleanup, and then proceeded to go to their classes for the day!
To begin with, today was a very eventful day for those who signed up to go to our adventure trips as we had three of them today! First, we had an adrenaline-filled kayak trip to the Catawba in which Case H, Solomon P, Talton A, Andrew T, Edward T, Myers S, Charlie T, and John P had a great time shredding some whitewater rapids. The second trip of the day was an awesome Climbing trip to Instinct Boulder, where Alston M, Owen M, David K, Carson B, Chris C and Nathan W absolutely killed it, and last but not least the third trip of the day was a day hike in which Grayson S, Loren C, Hayden B, Owen M, Tobias C, Kieran S, Jack H, Spencer B, Thornton H, Asher K, and Alexander S headed to Upper Creek for a beautiful day stroll to a magnificent mountain stream swimming hole in which the boys rested from the hike and swam to cool off from this very warm day here in the precious mountains of NC. I definitely wish I could have gone on all of these trips!
While all of those guys were having some awesome adventures, things were running smoothly back here at Camp. For lunch we enjoyed one of the most beloved meals by our great campers, mini corn dogs with mac and cheese, which I must say always hit the spot. And like always our delicious salad bar was open. Here at camp we always like to thank our kitchen staff, because without them we would not have the energy to do any of the activities we love doing. We also found out who won the Tribal Game Age of Empires last night… The GOLDEN EAGLES!!! The Geagles were so excited about this win and celebrated in front of all the Black Bears, which as a proud Black Bear myself it didn’t feel so good… But worry not Black Bears, for redemption is just a few hours away…
Throughout the whole day, some boys absolutely crushed it at their activities! John L, Solomon P, and Grayson P received their hard worked for Bronze bars in Diving. Charlie T mastered climbing and got his bronze bar, and Grayson S showed the pottery wheel who is boss with an awesome bowl.
We ended the day with another delicious meal, consisting of Orange chicken with rice and veggies and some ice cream sandwiches for dessert. To end the day, Junior and Intermediate cabins had their cabin nights and enjoyed a fun session of slip ‘n slide and s’mores to end this Glorious day here at Camp Timberlake. Rumor has it Finch’s Landing got to pay a little extra visit to the Trading post for their cabin night before having an epic gaga ball tournament. Further up enjoyed the epic slip n slide here at camp before heading up to the Mark (our gym) for s’mores and a campout. Tiger Tooth and Hawksbill got to do an evening free swim before enjoying a beach luau complete, of course, with s’mores. And finally Turtleback played field games and also hit the slip n slide.
Up in senior camp the Golden Eagles and Black Bears battled it out in a mega game of ultimate basketball. This is a chaotic and competitive game that is essentially a mash up of ultimate frisbee, handball, and basketball. A mid game rain shower didn’t deter the boys from giving it their all, and the outcome was very much in question at the end. I guess we’ll just have to wait until tomorrow to find out who won.
And thus ended another incredible day here at Timberlake. Thanks for tuning in and we’ll see you tomorrow!
