Wonderful Wednesday
Timberlake Family! LEND ME YOUR EEEAAARRRRSSS!!!
Another bright blue, fun packed, sunny day is coming to an end here at Camp Timberlake. We kicked off the morning with a delicious breakfast of egg and sausage biscuits along with the wide variety of cereals available. After breakfast, we all rushed outside for the Morning Yell, a fun and energizing way to start the day, with Counselor Ben H leading us and urging us to be “AS LOUD AS A HUNDRED PICKLEBALL DINKS”, an homage to his own area of expertise here at camp. With the Morning Yell complete, we flooded into the chapel to worship with our friends and peers. We brought all our voices together to sing several songs of strength together and in the Lord before ending with our staple, the Camp Hymn (a favorite of many campers, myself included). With the singing complete, we sat attentively to hear another True Story With Winston Horn, ending with “lets go clean those cabins!”
Two groups of boys got to have amazing experiences on trips today. A kayaking trip sent Kenny B, William F, Ryan H, Sanders H, Henry D, Banks P, Ryker R, and Mason S to battle the raging waters as they honed their skills with a paddle. Meanwhile, campers Murphy D (proudly boasting a catch on this excursion), Robbie G, Patterson S, Pace W, Nathan W, and Hayes W practiced their skill with the rod as they enjoyed a fly fishing trip in White Mountain National Park.
Camp was also full of achievements and smiles. Grayson P displayed a determined attitude as he smashed the requirements to achieve his Bronze in Mountain Biking, Louis F started his groupings for achieving his Gold in Riflery, Grayson L and Maverick C BOTH achieved Bronze in basketball, Edward S achieved his Gold in Basketball as he made 19/19 free throws, and Barrett G fought his way to Gold in Fencing.
During our delicious stromboli lunch, all of the campers were on the edges of their benches as they awaited the announcement of who had won the Quest for Mordor tribal game last night. The Black Bears jumped up in their victory and gathered at the front to perform their victory song and hymn as the Golden Eagles watched in graceful defeat (to all you Golden Eagles fans, stay tuned for tomorrow’s post containing the winner of tonights tribal games!).
Dinner tonight consisted of Country Fried Steak with gravy and rolls, a filling meal enjoyed by all. As soon as “And Now!” was announced on the microphone, the Dining Hall erupted into cheers and joyous chaos as campers frantically looked to spot the Sultan of Fun weaving between the benches in his iconic red helmet. Tonights evening activities consist of cabin nights for Senior camp and a tribal battle in the form of the game Stealing Skins for Intermediate and Junior camp.
Greybearders are enjoying Trickshot Magic Lawn Golf and S’mores, campers in Big Slaty are competing in Timberlake Survivor (only one shall survive the challenges, who shall emerge victorious??), Little Slaty is enjoying Free Swim followed by a Beach Luau, Stompers Knob is feeling the spray and the breeze as they go down the Slip n Slide before raiding the Trading Post, Big Piney is taking on the challenge of the Paddleboard Bridge, Little Piney is also
enjoying the Slip n Slide before gathering around the campfire for S’mores, Tomahawk argues that three doesn’t make a crowd as they also enjoy a night on the Slip n Slide before switching it up and enjoying some popsicles. Intermediate Camp (cabins Turtleback, Hawksbill, and Tiger Tooth) and Junior Camp (cabins Further Up and Finches Landing) are battling it out between Golden Eagles and Black Bears in the game of Stealing Skins, a sort of Capture the Flag with many flags rather than the normal two.
Thank you for tuning in! See you tomorrow for more of your favorite Timberlake News!
