Saturday is for the boys
Saturday is for the boys
Today was another wonderful evening Here at camp Timberlake! The weather was sunny and warm so no fun was interrupted, and we had a spectacular Saturday.
We started the day with a peaceful walk to breakfast, ready for the delicious pancakes and sausages. We have great hot food, but everyone goes to war over the lucky charms and cinnamon toast crunch (not just the kids me too) and it’s a great way to start the day.
After breakfast we kick off the rest of the day with our morning yell and warm our voices for the next event, chapel. We sang some great camp songs, our camp hymn, and we had a great message from Luke R, one of our counselors.
After Chapel we started cabin cleanup which is a big competition here at camp, chasing after the ultimate prize the golden plunger.
We Had two trips go out today. Owen M, William S, Penn S. Fitch W, Tucker C, Carter M, Maxwell C, and CJ R went on a mountain Biking trip practicing skills they learned at camp in a new setting having the time of their lives. Owen G, Alex D, Jack D, Grant F, Quinn D, and Marshall M went on a Fly fishing trip learning new skills and having fun
Here at camp though the boys had a day full of sunshine and fun, practicing new skills and getting bars. For lunch we had Gyros with house chips and blueberries and it was all very good and flavorful. We also have our salad bar with infinite combos of toppings and fresh vegetables. At lunch we announced who won Cabin clean up and today the cabin of Little Piney won with a 9.75 and is one step closer to the Golden Plunger.
The day was so full of achievements that I can’t name them all…. but I’ll try. Oliver H Caught a Pretty Fish in Fishing today, David F Shot 5 Bulls eyes in a row. During Archery, Matt W Hit a trickshot in fishing, and hit a 360 while reeling. Henry b had a perfect shop in kayaking. Edward S got his gold in Disc Golf. Tucker L got his Silver in Disc Golf and Case M Got his gold in fencing. A few more accomplishments would be that Hayden B got his Gold in Rocketry, Quinn D caught a fish During the fly fishing trip, Charles C got his silver in swimming, Pace M. got his bronze in swimming, Hammond F also got his silver in swimming and Sam J worked on his kayaking roll.
We also Had our first Timberlake Paddleboard Yoga during free time today with campers Hayden B, Owen M, Whit T, Fitch W, and Grayson S.
Dinner was a nice way to end the day with Pork Loin and potato slices, and some fluffy, yellow chocolate cake for dessert.
Tonight we had our senior cabin night and Jr Sock wars, so a night of extreme competition for the juniors and great cabin fun for the seniors. Tomahawk played basketball and roasted s’mores over a campfire. Little Piney went on a sunset hike to Lookout in Montreat. Big Piney enjoyed a night of games and music in the Tuck. Stomper’s Knob had a free swim and did the slip n slide. Little Slaty also did the slip n slide before joining Big Slaty (who also did some s’mores) for an epic game of Blacklight Battleball in the Mark. And Greybeard is currently enjoying a cabin campout up on Spyglass Hill. What a night!
Now, as the sun sets and the stars come out, the boys head back to their cabins to shower and get ready to sleep, tired from a full day of fun. We had a great time today, and we can’t wait to see what tomorrow has in store.
