A fantastic first day!
A fantastic first day!
Welcome back Camp Timberlake to the first full day of session 2! Excitement buzzed through camp before the first bell rang, and Timberlake kicked things off in style. We fueled up with a delicious breakfast of french toast, crispy bacon, and of course, the all-important glass of water to keep us energized and hydrated.
With bellies full and spirits high, we launched into the morning yell, echoing across the mountains like a proper Timberlake battle cry. Soon after, we gathered for chapel, which featured the always beloved “Anchor for My Soul” song. John led us through with an impactful true story of getting saved by his Dad from getting on the wrong train to an Atlanta Braves game, much like our heavenly Father saves us.
With that encouragement, we marched on to the most competitive time of the day: cabin clean-up. While all cabins fought valiantly, today’s victory banner goes to Huckleberry and Hawksbill! From there, campers jumped into their first round of activities for Session 2F. Some major highlights from the day were Harrison C. receiving his silver wrestling, George de B. getting 3 silver sitting groupings in riflery, and last but not least Jack B. receiving his bronze in canoeing!
Lunch gave us a much-needed recharge with meat and cheese sandwiches, crispy fries, and fresh peaches—a perfect summer combo. After getting refueled, the campers moved on to a very exciting decision: tribal elections. The new chief of the Golden Eagles was Gary M. and Elder went to Emerson F. Golden Eagle Lookouts were Silas S. and Jack H. The new Black Bear Chief is Matthew H. and the Elder is Charlie A. Black Bear Lookouts went to none other than Henry O. and Fuller B! Congratulations to our newly elected leaders—we know you’ll lead with heart, courage, and the true Timberlake spirit!
We also had several off-camp trips today! Our Fly Fishers consisted of John David A, Ryan B, Hayes D, Jack L, Michael T, Carson K and the boys had a big time out fishing the waters of South Mountain. Out on the river today for whitewater rafting was Kess A, Axel B, Will C, Charlie G, James N, Sam C, Nicholas P, Thomas H, Arav S, Calvin W, Charlie H, and Alex H.
Dinner wrapped the day with pork tacos, savory rice, and churros—a fiesta on a plate that had everyone going back for seconds. Afterward, campers gathered for tonight’s evening activity: Super Mario! A game of strategy, speed, and searching to rescue Princess Peach from the clutches of the evil Bowser!
From conquering rapids and wrestling mats to shooting bullseyes and making new friends, today was proof of the magic of camp. Every Timberlake camper pushed limits, lifted one another up, and took one more step on their journey of growth, adventure, and fun.
Stay tuned, tomorrow promises even more.
Until next time,
Enley McCollum
Proud Golden Eagle
