Amazing day to start the month right
Amazing day to start the month right
Today we welcomed the month of July at camp! The sun rays started piercing through the
darkness as the campers all woke up and got out of their beds to get ready to go to breakfast,
which today was some biscuits, scrambled eggs, potatoes, oatmeal bar at the neighborhood
table and a yogurt bar like always. This delicious breakfast was needed to give our campers the
energy they need to go to their activities and have a blast!
Our next stop brought us to the morning yell and then chapel. There, Winston captivated us with
a profound story. He spoke not just about who Jesus is, but also gave the reasons why we, in
our individual journeys, genuinely need Him in our lives. It was a powerful and
thought-provoking message that resonated with many of us. After chapel, we all headed back to
our cabins for cabin cleanup, in which the campers get the chance everyday to compete for the
golden plunger (Who will win it this time…) It didn’t take very long until it was already time to go
to our first periods and all the boys went rushing to their first activities of the day.
Today was also filled with adventure as we had three trips going out. To begin with, our hikers
for the day were Noah B, Drew D, Harris N, Reid S, Trip L, and Riggs C. They adventured on
a nice hike leading up to Upper Creek falls, this gorgeous place has an amazing swimming hole
in which the boys got to jump in and have a blast while doing so. Our whitewater rafters today
were Tristian D, Jack G, Aidan P, Barnes Z, George dB, Blake L, Francesco P, Ben G,
Thomas W, John L, and Bram O. All these campers got into some super sick whitewater today
and absolutely crushed it. And last but not least, a very special trip this summer is our river
snorkeling trip, our divers today were Brody R, Jake O, James A, Charlie A, Harrison D,
Carson K, Gary M, Jackson M, and Giancarlo Z. These campers were able to see multiple
species of aquatic wildlife that live in the rivers of the gorgeous western side of NC, like trout,
different species of minnows, and crawfish to name a few.
Getting back to camp, the boys were all out doing the activities they like to do the most! It felt
pretty quick, but we had to head back to the Tuck already to eat some lunch. Today lunch
consisted of Chicken quesadillas, which were absolutely delicious and nourished our bodies for
the rest of the day. We also found out who won Super Mario last night… The GOLDEN
EAGLES!!!! This was a very deserved win for the golden eagles, and now things are tied up on
the race for the banner. After a great session of eating maybe too many chicken quesadillas, we
were all headed back to the cabin for the best time… Rest Time! There, some of the campers
took some naps and others silently played card games. Man, this rest time is truly needed after
lunch… Then we were all rested and ready to rock and roll! A soon as the bugle sounded, every
camper was out and running of hei cabins! They were all headed to the beach for free time.
During free time, the campers can have a snack and a drink of their choice, so you can see why
there was such a rush to leave the cabins. After snacking and playing around, reading, or doing
whatever they please, we had to head to our next activities for 3rd and 4th period. The campers
went to their activities and put in the work to receive bars on their journey for Little Chief.
The time for dinner was up, and I must say I was excited for this one, today for dinner we got
ham with cheesy potatoes, some veggies and cornbread. This was absolutely delicious, the
campers got to eating pretty quick and while eating tonight, something special happened when
Thomas W from Tomahawk helped a really homesick camper and encouraged them to have
fun! After dinner they announced what game we will be playing tonight… Battle ball!! An
absolute camper favorite. We will find out who won tomorrow… All the campers came back to
their cabins for a well needed shower and hit the sack to get some good rest for what the
tomorrow holds. This was a great day full of adventure and amazing relationships at camp, we
cannot wait to see what new adventures the campers will be up to tomorrow.
Have a blessed night.
