Happy Jersey Thursday Camp Timberlake!

Happy Jersey Thursday Camp Timberlake!
It was a beautiful day here at Camp Timberlake. We started today off with a great meal, fried chicken biscuits! Right after breakfast, Micheal T, CJ R, Harris N, Teddy M, Grant C, Alexis B, Braxton F, Gabe W, and Harrison C departed for an overnight mountain biking trip. They get to Rocky Knob Bike park and shred the trails, camp out with their friends, and then get to do even more trails the next day. We also had a bouldering trip today. Harden R, Theo K, Henry S, Duncan N, and Alex H took a triple to Little Rock Cove for some climbing and repelling.
Outside of the trips, there was loads of excitement here at camp. In pottery, they learned about entering the flow state on the wheel and how to use the wheel in an effective manner. At lunch, the campers found out that the Black Bears won Bandits Rancheros last night, which is good news for them in the race for the banner. Brady M and Thomas Wood both earned their bronze bars in basketball. In kayaking today, Quay B learned his roll, Santiago M worked on perfecting his roll, and Carson K learned his hand roll. Being able to roll in kayaking is very important if you want to be able to go down more advanced rivers. In and about the lake today, Josh R discovered a huge school of fish and was able to catch one using a fishing line and a hook with no rod. Also down at the lake, Jack B earned his silver in swimming while Benjamin G, Callen W, John L, and Will M all earned their bronze bars.
There was also a lot of excitement down at the climbing tower today! Billy Luke I, Hayes A, and Jack B all earned their bronze bar and Brayden C learned how to belay. Liam L earned his bronze in the best activity here at Camp Timberlake: archery, obviously. The archery bronze consists of shooting for grouping at both 10 and 15 yards, knowing the parts of the bow and arrow, and being able to properly follow the safety rules. Also at the superior range, not that one with rifles, the first of many practices for the Archery Tournament versus Merri Mac took place. It is always an epic battle to see which camp can come out on top, and this session is no different. The campers are competing now to see who will earn the right to represent their camp as an archer. Up at the airsoft arena they were also working on their bars today. George B was working on his gold and was able to complete his 1 versus 4 campers. This is one of the hardest steps for your gold in airsoft, falling behind the 1 versus 2 counselors. Today in Field Sports at Spencers Green they were playing soccer. They were specifically working on headers and volleys before they scrimaged. Up in senior camp, Greybeard continued to work on the shelter project. This is a project that Greybeard has been working on for the last few summers and the campers almost finished it today! Tonight the campers are playing El Presidente, a favorite among both campers and staff.
Little Slaty didn’t quite have time to finish their epic game of Timberlake Survivor last night so they finished the competition this evening and Matthew G was named the ultimate survivor!
