When all of us woke up on this especially crisp morning, we knew it was going to be another great day at camp. All the running from last night’s tribe game – Age of Empires – didn’t stop any of the Golden Eagles or Black Bears from hurriedly running to the Tuck for a delicious breakfast of egg and sausage casserole, blueberry muffins, and some fresh fruit from the fruit bar. After crushing the morning yell, the campers heard a true story from Winston Horn, one of Timberlake’s Associate Directors. Winston reminded us that God always rescues us; this message helped campers feel comforted and prepared for the day ahead!

Yet again, some of the campers headed off to the river for an awesome white water rafting day-trip. The rafters were: Elias H, Edward I, Cormic P, Ellis T, William B, David H, Tommy L, Trey W, Sewll B, Charles A, Stone C, and Coleman J.

All the boys came back with smiles on their faces, satisfied with a good day out on the rapids. One highlight from the trip is when Cormic P fiercely faced the “mega” swimmers rapid!

Back at Timberlake, the campers officially began their Monday, Wednesday, Friday schedules and tried out their new activities for the summer. Out on the lake, Kenny C got great rolls in kayaking while Bennet W performed his first wet exit. On the court, Patterson S received his bronze bar in tennis and is getting close to receiving his silver!

After eating a hearty lunch of stromboli, coleslaw, grapes, and chicken tortilla soup, it was time to reveal the winner of the day’s cabin cleanup. With an outstanding score of 9.75, Bull Run was the cleanest cabin. So far 1A has proved to be no stranger to cleanliness. Following Bull Run’s victory, the Golden Eagles were deemed the winners of last night’s game of Age of Empires. The Tuck ERUPTED in cheering, and the Golden Eagle’s screeches could be heard all the way from the Mark! All the campers then crashed during rest time and woke up feeling energized for free time.

Following the remaining two activities for the day, we headed to the Tuck for a dinner of country-style ham, mac n cheese, cornbread, peas, salad, and finished it up with some warm snickerdoodle cookies. So good!

The Golden Eagles and Black Bears then headed to the chapel, where they played a strategic, intense, and exciting game of Super Mario. With staff dressed up as Mario, Luigi, Bowser, Princess Peach, and other staple Mario characters, campers ran across camp trying to reach checkpoints, protect their flags, and rescue Princess Peach to their respective bases. We look forward to hearing the winner tomorrow at lunch!

Each day at camp just keeps getting better! We are so excited to see how our campers continue to grow, make new friendships, and have the best summer ever!

Until Tomorrow,
