It was a chilly and bright morning today as the entire Camp rose from their beds and rushed down to the Tuck for a delicious breakfast of french toast and sausage patties. After a morning yell so loud that they could hear it on the moon, the camp made their way to the chapel to sing some songs and listen to Wells’ true story. He shared a time where he fell short showing that man is imperfect and God met him where he was.

Soon, every camper rushed off to their first period activities. Down at the lake, Will G. and Rivers H. were working hard and managed to earn their Bronze in Swimming. Asa C. was able to complete his roll during kayaking, a big step in the kayaking journey. Up back in the ranges, Iain H. got a Bullseye in Archery and Sam S. got the first Bronze grouping of the summer in Riflery.

Meanwhile, two epic trips journeyed off from camp. On a Mountain Biking trip to Old Fort, Ellis T., Coleman J., Dakota M., Wes H., David F., and Elliot A. shredded through the trails. Out at the chimneys, Owen M., David K., Myer S., Andrew I., John P., Gus A., Carson B., Nathan W., and Chris C. all had an awesome climbing trip to Liville. A special shoutout to Myer S., who conquered his fears and rappelled down the rock face.

After activities, everyone proceeded down to the Tuck for another serviced meal of Chicken Nuggets and fries. Some even had competitions for who could eat the most nuggets! Bull run came away with the cabin cleanup win with a 9.75, but many cabins weren’t far behind setting the stage for a close race. Also, you’re prooooooooooobably wondering who won Super Mario last night…THE GOLDEN EAGLES! It was a tough battle, but the Golden tribe took the Gold last night.

Then, the entire camp went to rest time to rest for the day ahead. For free time, campers scattered about camp. From Tomahawk, Little and Big Piney, as well as Stomper’s Knob all heading to the lake for a free swim, some wrestlers going to the beach for some sand wrestling, or some heading to the ranges for bars, the entire free time was a blast.

After free time, the camp headed to their last two activities for the day. Down at the lake, Tucker L., Elias H., Asa C., Trey W., and Ellis T., all achieved their Bronze in canoeing. Congrats! Making the way up the hill from the lake, Silas S. did a fantastic job learning a chapel song during Guitar. On the other side of camp, Robert I. completed the Soccer part of his field sports Gold, putting him ever closer to that accomplishment.

As the bugle rang, everyone rushed back to the Tuck for some tasty pork carnita tacos. MMmmm, amazing! Tummies full with food, it was difficult but so enjoyable to eat some amazing churros for dessert. But soon, the dining erupted in shouting as our interim Sultan of Fun Charlie sped around the dining hall, and staying with the theme of the meal announced our evening activity as…EL PRESIDENTE! Who will win? We’ll have to wait to see tomorrow.

Now as the sun sinks below the horizon and the entire camp settles into bed, tired but ready for the day ahead, I’d like to sign off and get ready for another great day at Camp Timberlake.
