A Jersey Thursday for the Books
What an exciting Thursday at Camp Timberlake! Breakfast was a land flowing with milk and sausage, the kind of land people of old could only dream of. This delectable feast was then followed up by a morning yell filled with pure testosterone. Quickly changing gears, the sweet symphonies of chapel filled the camp air with life, liberty, and happiness -Thomas Jefferson (Further In Counselor circa 1780s). 3 trips left that morning, including fly fishing to South Mountain, mountain biking to Bernard, and rafting to the French Broad Section 9 (Say FB9 when the locals ask so you sound professional).
During Cabin Cleanup, the newest cabin of Bull Run managed a perfect 10; floors so clean they shined like the top of the Chrysler Building. Today’s activities were alive, as they were the last days to get bars in Session 1A. Peter K, Hayden B, Duke A, and Talton A all found themselves in possession of a bronze bar in Archery, Robin Hood style while John P. worked very hard for his silver in climbing. Did you think I was done? Remy H and Michael V both acquired their bronze bars in Basketball, looking like a prime Lebron James (better than MJ might I add) and Ben Tyson braved the Niagara falls of jumps on his mountain bike, successfully, might I add. Ellis T landed a fish in fly fishing today as well. Field Sports hosted a tournament of all sorts with 8 challenges. Winning Intermediate and Senior soccer games were Sam S and Wyatt F, followed by Maverick C and Carson B winning the farthest throws of the great pigskin for Intermediate and Senior Camps. When it came to kicking, Maverick C and Wyatt F found their footballs furthest down the field, and Walker S and Carson B found their frisbees furthest as well. All of this energy was fueled by many, many mini corndogs and mac and cheese, and an impossibly detestable lavish meal of asian chicken with fried rice and greens. A celebration feast so good that Wells F nearly fell out of his seat.
Then none other than the great Jake H set off to reveal tonight’s game of Commando. Commando is nearly impossible to explain without being here but all that needs to be said is water balloons + water balloons. The Golden Eagles seemingly fought their hardest after a devastating loss in the game of Infinity War last night, but the Black Bears are certainly relentless. This could be anyone’s game. This great evening activity was then followed by approximately 16:43.67 minutes worth of fireworks. All tired out, the campers slept soundly in their beds, for they surely knew the camp banner danced in their heads. At the end of the day, Camp Timberlake, there was night.
Until next time, Charles Townsend signing out.
