A Ballad to Camp Timberlake

Good Morning Camp Timberlake

In the form of a poem no less

What accompanied breakfast?

Foods and liquids, take a guess.

Pancakes and sausage,

Room for a feast.

With syrup and honey,

We unleashed the beasts.

Chapel and cleanup to start off the morn,

Onto the activities, where bars had been born

Garrett L. reaching for silver,

The activity of climbing no less.

Many knots he had to complete

That he did, minus the stress

Charlie F with a field sports bronze,

Fred T, the same as above.

Wesley S with a grouping,

With Archery, he fell in love.

More from the ranges, a silver for Andrew K.

Owen M with a 20 yard grouping made Charlie V’s day.

Emerson F received a silver in yakking.

On the whitewater trip he rolled on a river.

To JB S a silver swimming bar was given,

So many bronze bars, I just started to quiver. (Wyatt B, Jarvis D, Patrick F, Kieran S, Oliver O, Lawson M)

Thank you to Greybeard for sweeping after the meals,

Stay tuned for an Archery competition, its on a roll like wheels.

Many laced their shoes for a Crooked Mile run,

I get that it’s exercise, but I do not see the fun.

Merri-Mac came visiting for Sibling Day’s delight,
Brothers found their sisters, what a wonderful sight.
A free swim at the lake and a picnic by the shore,
Made for happy reunions and memories galore.

The Golden Eagles clutched last night’s game,

The Black Bears must win tonight, to redeem their name.

Dinner was a favorite, alfredo and bread.

Where are these rhymes from? Surely not my head.

Hawksbill and Turtleback headed down to the lake,
For a free swim galore and every splash they could make.
Diving and laughing beneath the warm sky,
The evening seemed determined to never pass by.

Bull Run and Tiger Tooth raced down the slip and slide,
Flying through the water with campers side by side.
Splashes soaked the hillside from the bottom to the top,
Once they got started, they did not want to stop.

Huckleberry spotted Candyman and gave a mighty chase,
Through trails and fields and every hidden place.
The hunt was long and winding, but victory was quite dandy,
Huckleberry caught him and claimed the precious candy.

Finch’s Landing and Further Up finished out the night,
With an epic dance party and moves of pure delight

The Tuck was filled with laughter, music, joy, and cheer,
Enough to wake the mountains for miles around to hear.

The sun sets in the West, my fellow friends.
And this is where, sadly, this Article ends.

Goodnight to all, and to all a Goodnight

– Charles Townsend (Future Poet)
