Tribal Paloooozaa Like No Other
ANNND NOWWWW…
Is what all of the campers here at Timberlake heard after devouring a delicious breakfast that consisted of French toast sticks, sausage, and various cereals. That’s right, Monday is TRIBAL PALOOZA!! Right after one of the best days at camp was announced, the mighty men of Greybeard were elected to join the Hunger Games here at Camp Timberlake and headed out. Straight after breakfast, the rest of the lads headed downstairs for the morning yell and then to the chapel where some camp CLASSICS were played, featuring “The Banana Song”, “Wade in the Water”, and “All in All”. After the glorious tunes blessed our ears, John gave us a great true story and sent all of us straight to cabin cleanup (GO LITTLE SLATY!), but not before announcing the first game of the day…NINJA TRAINING!!!
In an old camp classic that was reintroduced today, the Black Bears and Golden Eagles came out with an intensity unlike any other, driven by the eagerness to take advantage in a tight banner race. An intense matchup that sent campers running stealthily all over the property in order to score their tribe points at the various bases.
After Ninja Training ended, everyone headed off to lunch, except for the remaining Hunger Games players who had received their lunch at the chapel just moments before the rest of camp went to eat some delicious Jambalaya, Cornbread, and oranges. Right after everyone cleaned up, we found out that the Timberlake Archery Team, including archers David F., Tucker L., Kenny C., Stephen J., Harrison C., Adams H., Peter K., and Reed P., as well as coaches, Charlie V. and Ryan H. left the Merri-Mac range with a tight victory 1710 – 1604, marking the closest ever tournament in the history of the competition. Thanks again to Merri-Mac for hosting! Everyone also learned about how they did on cabin cleanup earlier in the day, with a tie for first place between the men of LITTLE SLATY and MEGA PINEY! (Called it!) After that, most of the camp headed off to a peaceful rest hour, but others left on some epic adventures. Let’s check in with the guys on trips off property…
The mountain biking overnight trip that included Owen M., Fox S., Oliver F., Gus T., Ellis T., Charles T., and Jayse B., returned with all smiles after an awesome trip of shredding and backpacking. Also returning from an overnight backpacking trip was Garrett L., Harley T., Angello G., Everett T., Jude V., Grayson S., Owen L., Eddison Z., and Owen B., who all looked like they had a great time at our river snorkeling trip location. The boys got to enjoy the river and camping out all at once! Lastly, some canoers went out to Lake James today. That group consisted of Emerson F., Luke H., Phillip H., Cruz D., Ford Z., Campbell N., Oliver O., Sutton G., Brooks M., and Sam S. These guys had a blast out on the giant canoe named “The Voyager,” which set sail to a jumping rock! This trip also allowed Emerson F. to receive his silver in Canoeing!
During free time, camp watched the final battle in the Hunger Games, where Tucker L. and Henry L. had an epic battle that ended in a Tucker L. victory by way of sock throw! After some delicious trading post, everyone headed to the Mark for BATTLE BALL! In an intense showdown, both tribes put up a great effort that would be needed moments after, as the eyes of Timberlake saw the Mark doors open to the luscious Spencers Green set up for one of the camp’s most loved games…COMMANDO! The effort from Battle Ball went straight into Commando as the Black Bears and Golden Eagles zoomed across the field with massive water balloon raids, trying to outscore one another.
After those two intense games, the guy headed down to the Tuck for dinner which was a camp favorite pizza and salad with tons of water. Little Slaty and Mega Piney were certainly glad they won Cabin Cleanup today, because tonight’s dessert was BROWNIE DELIGHT! Once everyone was done eating, our Sultan of Fun announced the winner of Tribal Basketball and Tribal Soccer. Basketball went to the Black Bears in a tight matchup that saw the Bears crush a late Golden Eagle comeback. Soccer went to the Golden Eagles, who took over the pitch 3-1. With both tribes taking victory, there was an added aggression going into tonight’s evening activities…Senior Camp Pirate Ball and Junior Camp Bandits and Rancheros.
As this is being written, the tribes are battling in both Lake Newcomb and the Tennis Courts to try to take the advantage heading into the last few nights of Session 1B. The suspense is building, perhaps we are at the climax, but fear not avid Timberlake blog readers, the result is just a fewwww hourssss awayyy.
Until Tomorrow,
