“ACORDE, MEGA PINEY!” screamed Brazilian couselor Luiz Engelmann, as ear piercing claps started to ring out. The 21 sluggish campers and 5 other staff members of Mega Piney had no choice but to get up now. They were off to breakfast where the delicious coffee cake, eggs, and bacon awaited our hungry campers.

Campers Harrison C, Emerson F, Kenny C, Luke H, Gus T, Patrick F, Hayden B, Danny W, Owen M, Adams H, Reed P, George D, Logan D, Mason S, Charles L, Hayes T, Eric H, Rhodes R, Drew R, and Ellis H prepared themselves for a challenging morning in the Adventure Race. The team of Harrison C, Emerson F, Kenny C, and Luke H started their morning by crossing the lake while balancing themselves on 2 large planks laid across a canoe, with one person on each end of the plank, and paddling with 4 smaller pieces of wood. They then parked the canoe, and Emerson F was able to jump off the low dive and shoot a rubber duck into a floating kayak. Allowing the team to paddle back and move on to the rest of their challenges (such as bridgebuilding, a divided murph, and filling a bucket by passing water to each other while blindfolded) en route to a dominant victory in this year’s adventure race.

Mini Corndogs with Mac and Cheese were for lunch today, and so was the last chance to earn bars. Some of the bars include Roman S (Bronze – Wrestling), William L and Ellis T (Bronze – Disc Golf), Burns N (Bronze – Field Sports), Charlie F (Silver – Field Sports), Grant F (Gold – Basketball), and Eli F (Gold – Guitar) after he performed at chapel this morning! You’re proooooooobably wondering who won cabin cleanup today… Greybeard … again. In the cabin of Finches Landing, Hugh A was able to step up as a leader and get a 9.0 without a counselor’s help! You’re also prooooooobably wondering who won the Jedi wars last night … THE GOLDEN EAGLES!!! [Bird Noises]

Fly fishing today was the group of Alex D, Palmer E, Barrett T, Will M, Jude V, and Henry M, where Will M and Palmer E were both able to catch trout. The Bouldering trip included Logan S, Gus E, Wesley S, Hatch D, Sam Sh, Sullivan B, Harper B, Clarke F, Teddy L, Oliver O, Ford M, Ford Z, and Dylan S. This trip was highlighted by Sullivan B climbing a “highball” boulder after failing the first time.

Other notable achievements include Harris W, William K, and Andrew S doing 30 push-ups without stopping in fitness, Tucker C and Charlie F starting a fire with one match and Alex H making a really cool duck in pottery.

Dinner included chicken strips, rolls, mashed potatoes, and corn. Ice cream sandwiches were the finishing touch to a great day. Counselor Joey Blasetti then gave his list of the top 10 most fun super powers to have. At number 1 was Beast Boy’s ability to turn into any animal.

AND NOWWWWWWW… with the race for the banner in full swing the Black Bears and Golden Eagles are fighting tooth and nail in EL PRESIDENTE. A win in this activity will likely be the deciding factor in who wins the banner this session.

Until next time,
