‘Merica Monday
A very A-Merry-can Monday to all parents of Timberlake and readers of the blog! Today was a much needed cool day here at camp, the weather was lovely with some rain later on and the campers were cheery after a nice relaxing Sunday yesterday. We started off the day strong with some eggs, sausage and hashbrows for breakfast before heading outside for the mor-ninggg yell and then to chapel to sing some songs to get the day going.
It was a typical Monday with the exception of a couple lucky trips that got to go out. This morning the canoeing trip of DOOOOM went out and had a blast with our awesome canoeing instructors Charles and Wells leading Kolson M, George DB, Patrick F, Duncan N, Aaron C, Arnold A, Ethan C and Daniel G to the sunny waters of Lake James. Meanwhile our oldest cabin of Greybeard got to head out this morning and are expected to be returning around 9.30pm today from the famous Greybeard trip for this session. David B, Harrison C, Emerson F, Luke H, Braxton F, Matthew H, Cam M, Santiago M, AJ M, Levi M, Jake O, Ben P, Brody R, John W and Gabe W enjoyed a fantastic day. The started off with a morning of community service at the Black Mountain Home for Children and followed it up with a pool party in the afternoon. What a blast!
However here back at camp we had some cool stuff going on, as well within our classes, Winton F made an EPIC bank heist scene in improv. We had some fun on the courts in basketball too with Axel B beating his counselor. Another accomplishment goes to Harrison who got his roll down in kayaking, as well as JB W in his class today. Quay B won match of fire today. Lucas B got his bronze in archery while Aidan P managed to get a 20 yard grouping, how impressive!!!
Now to the best sports here at camp, swimming and diving of course, some of our swimmers getting bronze today Teddy M, Callen W, Cooper W, Eli J, Micheal T, Benjamin G and Alec B. Onto our silver bar swimmers today Nolan Y ( who is in my person favorite cabin this session – Further Up), and Drew Davis. We got many more bars swimming and diving bars to be announced during Little Chiefs this Thursday.
You’re proooooobably wondering who won cabin cleanup today and it was Bull Run! With back to back victories they are making a strong push for this session’s golden plunger. In our tribal games last night the mighty black bears won Soccer and the powerful golden eagles won basketball. (please forgive our typo last night. Battleball was swapped for soccer and bball when the weather cleared up). However as I write this, our junior and intermediate camps are in a battle of sock war (the best game here at camp) to find out who will be victorious tomorrow! While senior camp is enjoying a nice time bonding with each other through their memorable cabin nights. Each cabin has something special planned for them by their counselors and cabin night is always a favorite here at Timberlake.
Going back in time slightly I need to mention how delicious our lunch and dinner was today!!! For lunch we had the famous chicken sandwiches with waffle fries and raspberries, then it was banger after banger from there with pizza and caesar salad for dinner with the best and most beloved part being the brownie delight for dessert. THANK YOU KITCHEN!!!
Anyways, bye for now I hope to be back soon to share some more!
