The Annual Hunger Games of Timberlake
Greeting tributes, sponsors and spectators.
Welcome to Timberlake’s annual Hunger Games.
It was another unforgettable day in the camp arena with action in all corners. Here is your daily report, direct from the Capitol.
Our lovely breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausage and biscuits was interrupted by the Hunger Games Reaping where the boys of Greybeard were selected to compete in a game of strategy, strength and socialisation. While they prepared to fight, the rest of camp headed up to Chapel, led by Benjamin P helping him achieve his gold bar in guitar. Then it was time for another true story, with Vern Collins. He spoke about a time when he went fly fishing and stayed out too late, leaving him stranded on an island. Luckily, Vern was brought to safety but his experience demonstrates how our sin separates us from God and we need bringing back to shore.
The boys then gathered on the hill to watch the countdown to the Hunger Games. Our tributes first faced the Cornocpia to gain tools and weapons before escpaing to form alliances and find protection.
Grant. C, Riggs. C, Daniel. G, William. N, Harris. N, Larry. W, Harrison. B, Tristan. D, Jack. G, Christian M, Benjamin. G and Ethan C had their own rafting adventure to face in the waterbased District 4. The boys expertly navigated the river with Tristan. D leading the boat down the mega rapids of French Broad Section 9. A future tribute perhaps?
As the end of session 2 comes closer, the boys certainly didn’t hold back today putting their all into their activities. Emerson. F demonstrated his proficiency with a bow and arrow achieving his gold in Archery. A.J. M also succeeded on the range receiving his bronze bar in archery. Katniss Everdeen would be proud.
After a busy morning, the boys were keen to refuel and luckily the Sloppy Joe’s prepared by our amazing kitchen staff did just that. Cleanliness is key for survival as our campers must be prepared for anything. Stompers Knob demonstrated their attention to detail by winning Cabin Cleanup once again with a score of 9.75. But is it enough to secure them the Golden Plunger? We’ll find out tomorrow.
But what’s more desirable than the Golden Plunger? The banner of course. The Golden Eagles are one step closer, having dominated Search and Destroy last night. Fear not Black Bears for redemption is just a few hours away.
As if the excitement of a rafting trip, Hunger Games and daily activities weren’t enough, today we also hosted the Adventure Race. Congratualtions to Haran. R, Mick. L, Theo. K Francesco. P, Patrick. F, Bobby. D, Knox. B, Hayes. D, Teddy. M, Will. M, Santiago. M, Jake. O, Max. , Quay. B, Alston. M, FInley. S, Arnold. A, Whit. G, Will. M and Brady. M for taking part. Ultimately it was Patrick. F, Bobby. D, Knox. B, Hayes. D that showcased their talent by completing all 5 challenges and the final boss the fastest.
Down at the beach, the boys were crushing their diving and swimming classes.
In swimming Pierce. F achieved a bronze bar, Theo.K , Alex. B and Cooper. W received silver and Ward C reached his gold bar. In diving receiving their bronze bars, Riggs. C, Eli. Jobe and Eli. Jackson, Achieving their silver, Bram. O, Liam. T, Cullen. W and Aaron. D. Amazing work.
After a long day of strategy, fighting and avoiding the hounds, just two Hunger Games tributes remained. After a final showdown on the beach, Benjamin. P reigned victorious over Matthew. H and was crowned winner.
ANNNDDDD NOOOOWWWW, we’re playing Age of Empires!!!! Imagine 7 bases all around camp which each tribe must try and conquer. It’s intensive, competitive and crazy. Check back in tomorrow to find out who reigns victorious.
As another day in the arena comes to a close, we recognise all campers for their courage, teamwork, and determination. Rest well, because tomorrow brings a new challenge—and new opportunities for victory.
Until then… may the odds be ever in your favor.
