Cowboy Joe Day for the Books!
Hawwww Yeeee Lake Timber, Day joe boy cow Happy!!!!
Yes, you read that right, and yes, today was COWBOY JOE DAY!!! Last night when the
campers were snug in their beds, they were read the Legend of Cowboy Joe, who rode his
stallion from the West to the East… backwards. Matter of fact, he did everything backwards! We
kicked off this great camp holiday the best way possible, by sleeping in an extra hour. After the
extra rest, the campers were woken up in their cabins by Cowboy Joe himself, who brought his
famous nutdos and brown cow juice (donuts and chocolate milk) right to their bunks.
After devouring that delicious cabin breakfast and putting on their clothes backwards, the
campers headed up to the Mark to officially start their morning… with an evening activity!
Today’s morning game was the legendary Battleball, which is always a camp favorite. The
energy was off the charts right from the start and the whole thing capped off with an epic Staff vs. Greybeard round that had everyone cheering from the sidelines.
After we wrapped up our evening activity, everyone moved right into their third-period activities
to keep the backwards schedule rolling. While most of the camp was enjoying the on campus
chaos, we had a few brave campers who elected to head out into the wilderness for some epic
adventures. Gabe W., Grant C., Harris N., Henry S., Lucas B., and Harrison C. headed out
for an epic mountain biking overnight trip, where they’ll be shredding the trails and camping out
under the stars tonight. Bobby D., John L., Aidan P., Barnes Z., Thomas C., Charlie C., Liam
L., Andrew M., Duncan N., Michael T., Brody R., and Kolson M., all headed out on an
awesome whitewater rafting trip. They spent the day crushing rapids and having an absolute
blast on the French Broad river.
Keeping with the backwards theme, lunch was a massive hit with chicken and waffles. Later on,
we fueled up for dinner with mouth-watering BBQ pulled pork sandwiches. But the absolute
highlight of the meal? Ice cold Gatorade to drink! That is a super rare treat here at camp, and
the boys were absolutely stoked about it. Hydration never takes a vacation here at TL!
Following dinner we headed on over to the chapel to sing, hear a true story from Barrett C and
then watch the prestigious Timberlake’s Got Talent show. We saw many acts including George Y. magic trick, Benji P and Santiago M singing, Callen W showed his paintings, staff performed acapella “Ring of Fire”, and Greybeard performed singing monsters to mention few. Watching all of the campers and staff show off their talents was a great way to end such a memorable day
As the sun sets over the mountains and the boys settle back into their bunks, it’s hard to
imagine how today could have been any better. Cowboy Joe Day never disappoints, and we
can’t wait to see what tomorrow will bring!
Hawyee and night good,
Francis Trevor
