Good Evening from Camp Timberlake!

We had a busy and eventful day here at camp, with lots of major achievements, riveting trips, and an amazing senior camp cabin night. We started our day with a delicious breakfast of pancakes, bagels, and sausage. Pancakes are definitely one of my favorite breakfasts at camp. After chowing down, we headed to chapel where we heard a true story from John about how God saves us from our sins and fears.

We had an eventful rest of the morning on and off camp!

The mighty men of Greybeard – EJ Bauer, Wes D, Drew H, Thomas M, Davis O, Henry O, Jack P, Declan Q, Quinn S, and Grant S. – embarked on a trip to Greybeard mountain to grow together through physical and mental challenges. Climbing the chimneys today were Titus W, Davis O, Chance M, Gherig C, Michael Todd P, SJ G, Theis P, Bradbury B, and James K. I know these guys killed it on the rocks. Finally, Charlie M, Richard F, Cash K, Brooks H, and Robert R. tried their luck at fly fishing and were super successful. Great job to all these boys on their bravery and skills on their trips today.

For lunch today, we enjoyed cheese and pepperoni pizza, a camp classic! Thank you to our amazing kitchen staff who prepare amazing meals for us rain or shine, day in and day out. We wouldn’t be energized and ready for camp without them. We also found out who won the tribal game last night… the Black Bears! As a black bear myself, I am proud to say that we have been on a huge winning streak and hope we can keep it going!

Throughout the day, many boys conquered feats in their activities. In pickleball, Bay J. got his bronze and Kaito T. got his bronze and silver in one day. Wow! Matthew R. got 3 bronze groupings in archery and Radford W. got his silver in riflery. Finally, Ford C. tore up the water by getting his bronze in swimming and Kaito T. finished his gold bar in tennis. Great job boys!

For dinner, the boys enjoyed a Thanksgiving-style dinner with turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, and (best of all) dinner rolls. I think the campers at my table ate over 25 rolls between 6 boys. That’s crazy! Andddd for dessert we had brownie delight, which is brownie topped with whipped cream and chocolate syrup. We finished off dinner by watching Garrett and Joey battle in a speed-eating contest to see who could finish a whole plate of brownie delight the fastest. After a close fight, Joey won. Finally, the sultan of fun announced the evening activity… stealing skins for junior and intermediate camp and, camp night for senior camp!

For their cabin night celebration, Little Slaty and Big Piney took turns shredding the slip ‘n slide, refueling after with some delicious smores. Little Piney competed in a cabin pickleball tournament and cooled down after with some popsicles. Finally, Stompers Knob played Hunger Games and ate some delicious smores after the game. So glad these boys had time to bond with their cabins! Stay tuned for the results of Stealing Skins tomorrow!

Signing off for now!
