HAPPY TROPICAL TUESDAY, TIMBERFAM!!!

I am excited! Are you excited?!

If you are not, then you should be for today was a GLORIOUS day!

We all enjoyed some waffle sandwiches filled with eggs & cheese for breakfast. I have never had a waffle breakfast sandwich, but it blew every expectation I had. After breakfast we made our way to the bottom of the stairs as we gathered around to await the MORNING YELL. The morning yell today was done by Spencer. We all rushed to the chapel to sing some of our favorite songs such as Noah and Pharoah Pharaoh. We heard a true story about “Who is man?” that depicted the truth of human brokenness from Chase G. The Bible verse of the day was 2nd Corinthians 1: 9-10.

For lunch, we gobbled up (my personal favorite meal) PIZZA!!! Any day with pizza is a good day. For cabin cleanup, all I have to say is these kids are keeping it CLEAN. 4 cabins tied for first today, one of the cabins being Finch’s Landing. As the finch’s landing cabin mom, I am proud. The black bears won El Presidente last night which is huge for the team and ultimately for determining who wins the BANNER!!!

We had one trip out today. It was a climbing trip to the chimneys and all of the kids had a BLAST! The following AWESOME campers went on this adventure today: Davis T, Jay, N, Axel B, Penn Charles Del P, Charlie G, Jack H, and Ryder S.

Throughout the day there was still plenty happening on our Marion campus today. We had our first day of Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday classes which was SO EXCITING. I love 2F and these new campers are so filled with life and joy. I cannot wait to see how much they are shaped by this incredible experience!

As for dinner, we chowed down on some turkey, green beans, bread rolls, and pasta! I have a hot take I have to tell y’all that I learned from my kids in session 1A… Bread with butter and honey is absolutely delicious. At first, I looked at the Finch’s kids’ first session confused as to why they were putting honey on their bread, but then I tried it and finally understood.

We were all collectively worried that there was no dessert today when John said “ clean up, Timberlake” before we had our daily dessert. Fear not because Timberlake delivered. To say the least, today was topping-tastic!  Sprinkles & whipped cream and chocolate sauce galore for our delicious neapolitan ice cream. Today not only did we celebrate the 14th birthdays of two of our campers but, we also celebrated John’s birthday. How fun!

Tonight we will be enjoying a cabin night for Junior and Intermediate camp! Huckleberry and Finches Landing will enjoy slipping and sliding down our slip-n-slide as well as having s’mores and fireflies at Spyglass. Further Up and In will be enjoying s’more, free swim, and slip-n-slide. Tiger Tooth will be playing the Hunger games, s’mores, & fort building. Huckleberry and Turtleback will be playing cricket and having s’mores as well!

Inserting s’more joke now…

Life is s’more fun with chocolate and marshmallows.

Ok now another one…

What’s a s’more’s favorite type of book? A s’morey tale!

Senior camp will be playing a game of ultimate basketball. I think I had a basketball joke up my sleeve as well… Why can’t basketball players go on vacation? They aren’t allowed to travel. That was a good one…

Ok, ok. I will stop now even though I could keep going forever. With that, I am signing off and hope that you guys have a blessed evening. Check back tomorrow for even more shenanigans at Timberlake. Marion NC is always a party!

Until next time,

Alexandra Gayton
