Hi Timberlake Family!

It is a neeeeew day in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina, and a new week for our campers. As we started our second week of this summer, kids were back to their activities, excited to launch their rockets, catch a fish, score a goal, or jump on the blob! I am happy to share with you how our kids worked so hard on the bars!

We could not start the day without thanking God for his blessings, protection and love before breakfast! Today we shared some hashbrowns with scrambled eggs and sausage and some of our favorite cereal flavors. We shared our tables with the new CIT’s (Counselors In Training) who are ready to assist camp counselors on their daily chores as they prepare to become great counselors one day.

After breakfast, it was time for the MORNING YEEEEEEELL! Because it is ‘Merica Monday! Patriotic shirts are the uniform of Mondays. We went to Chapel to sing some songs, (Camp Hymn is my favorite for sure)….  And then it was time for another true story with Hunter. After a huge AMEN, everyone went to their cabins for cabin cleaning, and again… Turtleback and Hawksbill tied for the cleanest cabin.

Today was the Greybeard Trip – a really special tradition. This year they went to the Black Mountain Home for Children to do community service before playing putt-putt and hiking lookout mountain. They finished their awesome day together with milkshakes and a big card game back at camp.

We also had a great rafting trip to the French Broad River. David D, Evan G, Jack H, Luke H, Alexander S, Charles A, Talton A, Cormic P, William L, William B Trey W and Warren L did amazing and made it down the river in record time. Smooth paddling guys!

In first and second period David F, David D and William F got gold in canoeing, Parker J got his roll in kayaking.

Today lunch was amazing, Chicken patties, chips, and fruit, with some spinach pie(quiche), my favorite by the way. Once again we announced the winners of last night’s game… THE BLACK BEARS won tribal basketball and tribal soccer. I, as a loyal Golden Eagle, it hurts me a lot to say it, but it was a great competition that I truly enjoyed.

For third and fourth period, Mckean K. got gold in improv, Mose C and Grant W got silver in basketball and  Whit W beat both of his coaches! Andrew T did awesome, he got his roll in kayaking and did it consistently like almost 15 times! Isn’t that incredible?

As the sun comes down, the hungry come out. For dinner we had so many tacos with guacamole and beans, a delicious meal prepared by our kitchen staff. We shared some delicious churros too.

Tonight was a long awaited evening activity….BATTLE BALL. It was an epic dodgeball game and we will let you know who won tomorrow. A big rainstorm rolled through camp while we were playing and afterwards lots of the boys rain out onto the soccer field to slide in the mud. Only at camp!

It was another great day here at Timberlake. We are so proud of all the boys and can’t wait for tomorrow!
